In the SOC line, specially with transforming & combining robots, which came first? Manga, Anime or Toy?

I remember reading the Voltes V manga before they came out with the anime series... Boy, it seems like thousand years ago.

Magan first. All Go Nagai robots were mangas before they were anime. Grendizer is the only one that was first anime...

Yup, plus if you read any of the Manga especially the Getter Robo stuff it's usually much darker and violent. Grendizer did have a Manga but it came after the show and was geared more to females who loved the Duke Freed character, it must have been his wounded puppy attitude and bushy eyebrows.

Manga.......PERIOD. Almost all Otaku-franchises always start with a manga.

Don't forget the trend in the late 90's - several successful anime became manga after the fact. Lots of fans would rather forget that Evangelion were part of the SoC line-up. And I'm about 95% certain that the anime came first (if not concurrently as the manga).

You sure it aint the Robot? ;D Can we say that Duke's the anime boy toy of the 70's? <<needs sleep...

Yeah, for piloting such a bad ass robot he sure seems to cry alot and play his guitar by himself. I wish he was a bit more like Tetsuya and be more of a "man" .

Out of Koji, Tetsuya and Duke Freed (Fleed), the most macho dude has to be Tetsuya. Koji is a whiny cry baby rivaling Shinji from Evagenlion and Duke is a passive aggressive alien hiding with a lot of inner issues! ;D

Tetsuya always reminded me of a football jock, the guy that'll start a fight and crush a beer can on his forehead at the same time. While Duke seemed like all he wanted to do was the play his guitar and shovel horse manure for the rest of his life.
