The GX-28 interior packaging looks similar to the kind used for GX-23A Zambot Ace. They used mostly clear plastic instead of styrofoam.

Man is this piece of Sh-it Soul Of Chogokin? WTF is that plastic model kit inside? Jesus do we have to build the thing such as GX-01 again?

I'd rather buy the GX-23A. It's not necessary, but definitely has more purpose (like making my Zambot look pimp with bling bling!) than this.
Nope, not gonna be on my list.

Yeah, I know. I used to build models a long, long time ago... Anyway, I'm not a pro at it. I'd probably ruin the Brockary. The resale value goes down too if you build the thing. Bandai should just make SOC that you can take out straight from the box and leave the model building stuff in their Gundam model kit series.

I bought the GX-23A Zambot Ace. Let me say, that's a cool toy. In fact, GX-23 Zambot Ace is my favorite SOC (I bought two).

I'm looking forward to this. Yeah, it comes with a model kit- we've known about this practically since it was announced. The SOP Yamato came with a model kit too. There are no parts that you have to cut off trees for the Xabungle, only for the Brockary.
I was very impressed with the pics i saw of the Zanbot Ace, with all of its articulation, but extremely disappointed in the Zanbot itself. If this Xabungle is as nice as the Zanbot Ace or nicer, as I think it will be, I'm sure I'll love it (although it looks like it will have crappy knee articulation, but then again it's hard to make good use of knee articulation with most socs anyway).

The brockary is a bad guy robot from the show.

Oh so the toy comes with a free bad guy. That's cool, it's like a bonus. Hey, just as long as the main guy is mostly metal... That's okay with me.
When is this going to be available in the U.S.? I can't wait!

I can't wait! Bro you are wrong. Nothing is "bonus" nowadays, how much you paid, how much you get. And as far as i know the whole lower body except the feet is made of plastic, and the head, the arms and of course the fist are also made of plastic, it is another sort of "soul of plastic" than "soul of chogokin" as GX-13 dancouga, which the diecast contain is lower than 40% i think. I dont need to know that we have a plastic model kit inside a SOC, it is a joke, save it for your SOP line bandai!

So, Soul of Popika means mostly plastic vs. Soul of Chogokin (mostly metal). I just got the BPX-01 and the ship is mostly plastic. And I do have Dancouga (I really like this robot despite it being mostly plastic).
Do you think that this is the trend of the SOC line, mostly plastic? I noticed this of my new Gaiking GX-27. It seems to contain less metal than the early ones (In comparrision to GX-01, GX-02, etc...). If this is the case, then this is very disappointing.

‚r‚n‚o doesn't mean mostly plastic. Kaneda's Bike and the Hover Pilder are veritable lumps of metal. With the Xabungle though, I've heard a rumor that there's a connection with the chara wheels walker gallier, which never came out. That connection being that they decided they might as well release the gallier as a SOC, but to do that they'd need to do Xabungle as well. Then again, the Zanbot Ace didn't have a huge diecast percentage did it? I too was a bit disappointed with Gaiking's diecast content btw.
I'll just be thinking of the Xabungle more like a kahen senshi. More diecast than the Zeta, less than the ZZ. Similar level to the kadou senshi gundams and zakus. I love the kadou and kahen senshi stuff so I'm fine looking at it like this.

I still want this, though it's a little further down on my priority list. It does seem like they're beginning to take advantage of the "enthusiast mentality", meaning that they know full well now that we, as collectors, will buy the next SOC that comes out, unless it's ABSOLUTE crap (and even then some of us might still buy it ). So they're starting to cut corners by using plastic trays instead of styro, and using less and less diecast just as they did in the mid-to-late '80s. If the trend continues, they'll eventually be back to calling a toy a chogokin because it has two metal brackets holding the plastic arms in place. Then we'll have to wait another 20 years before diecast toys reign again. Bah, for now, let's enjoy what we have.
