hey guys, if the R stands for "Renewal Version", and the version is meant to correct the "quality control errors" with the gx-01 (as noted in the editors's note), and to improve the overall quality of the figure. does that mean the gx-01, the first soc, because it has flaws and height discrepancy with the other soc nagai bots, should also decrease in value and collectability?

I don't think it should decrease because of the "R" version. GX-01 was the first SOC ever made and does represent the look of early Mazinger Z's, infact I know people that like the look of GX-01 better than GX-01R. I have both and I like the way you can see the evolution of Mazinger from GX-01 to GX-01R. As for the quality issues that understandable since there is some speculation that GX-01 was initialy going to be a HCMP(I think that's the line, not 100% sure) model kit.

However, the QA issue is probably one reason why growth in value has been quite slow...eBay occasionally will have $70 for GX-01 and a bit more for the Renewal.

True GX-01 will never be worth the same as GX-09 but it will be worth more than it's initial price of around $45-50.00.
