Good evening RBJ! I just recieved Gatcha Gatcha Doraemon at Image Anime. So how is it? In a word:COOL! It comes in a sturdy box and when you open it up,you get 2 internal boxes,1 containing Doraemon, and the other containing the accessories(sorry,no styrofoam). Opened up Doraemon's box first to see how it looks, and well, the Gokin is pretty big for its size(at 14 cm). And also after holding it,its very hefty as well. The texture of Doraemon is not that of SOCs. Unlike the smooth, streamlined feel of SOCs,Gatcha Gatcha's texture is rough(it doesn't feel very smooth),making it feel like pottery. Still the thing is almost 95% die-cast. Also opening up the second box is where the gimmicks begin. To make it short, just insert the bigger accessories on his head(magnetic), and put the smaller accessories on his hand or in the capsule. Insert the capsules inside the back of Doraemon's head, shake the figure, and pull th tail to get a capsule. And like most toys,Doraemon is not without its flaws. When you open the package containg Doraemon, you may see small pieces chipped paint fall out,and due to its rough skin feel, it is possibly prone to paint chipping. However these flaws are very minor and nontheless, Doraemon is a great Chogokin and provides hours of GUM BALL MACHINE SIMULATION.RATING:9.5/10(Sorry no pictures.Post your Gatcha Gatcha reviews or comments here)

Hey CHOGOv9, do you think Doraemon is a contender for the ToyboxDX figure of the year? He sounds pretty solid, and he has lots of accessories and gimmicks, so it wouldn't surprise me if he turns up in the top ten.

The accessories and die-cast content should be able to qualify him as TOTY of 2006 candidate, but since its a "re-issue" of the old one,it's likely he can be disqualified or be on the bottom of the list.

He is totally brand new made, not re-issue. The original one has a much vintage look.

Does the original version have the built in gumball machine?

Personally, I like the new one's design better, just because its more anime accurate than the old one. However, the only thing that bothers me really is the bell. The new one has a plastic bell, whereas the old one looks like it has a metal bell(does it have a jingle?).

I'm jealous of you CHOGO. I went ahead and ordered one myself, but it's going to NC and I'm in hawaii until christmas break. Ya know, I guess Doraemon could be used as an actual (tiny) gumball machine, although things could get messy in places difficult to clean.

I know, ataru(be envied). You'll love it. The only thing that will suck is that its articulation points are within the arms and head, tht's it. However the die-cast content and its gumball machine gimmick make up for it. Besides I was planning to get this one first before GX-28 was released(at the time Image Anime didn't have any in stock yet).
