Whew! After being delayed since September(?) Ankoku Daishogun is out. The pics show the Overseas Limited "pearl" black version, comes with Dr.Hell(OVA look) and has Dark Blue Stripes(as opposed to "regular" version with blue green stripes and has Baron Ashura). The "Regular" version is the one in the Mazinkaiser vs. Ankoku Daishogun oneshot movie. I prefer this version since the "pearl" finish works on this toy(I didn't like the "pearl" Mazinkaiser though) and the Dark blue stripes are just awesome. DarkGeneral:I'm here, let's start the party!! Everyone else:............Oh Sh**...........!!! Even though there aren't that many joints, the look and feel of the toy is impressive It kind of gives an impression that the toy looks a high end statue(thanks to it's finishing), but is made of diecast and has articulation. My only major complaints are that the sword isn't chrome(I smell "reissues with chrome" down the road again from Miracle House) (Eh? Where the hell's the chrome??) .... and that the "clips" for the General's shoulderpads look fragile The toy itself is big! almost 9-10inches I believe. And the weight of the toy clocks in at 1.1Kilos!!! (Mazinkaiser only weighs 680grams, 800grams- wings on) Another thing about the toy that impresses is that the skirt plates can move individually( and them's a lotta skirt plates) The material is soft plastic I think. Speaking of material, for those who're curious about the cape, it's made of soft plastic, something similar to the ones DC Direct uses on their actions figures(only thicker) and is attached by inserting a "backpack" with a peg through a hole in cape and into General's back. Hehe, this pic took an afternoon of Photoshop work to get right.(Amazing whayou can do with Tetsujin's "broken" arm accessory) Enjoy DarkGeneral: Party's over! Thanks for the memories, guys! ;D ;D Gold

Thanks 45. It's a clip from the Shin Getter vs. NeoGetter DVD special features(Japan version). It's basically a 3 part MTV. It starts with Mazinger Z being beat up(with theme song in background) and Everyone jumps in to save him. Part 2 is Great Mazinger's themesong and the good guys beat the bad guys, only to have General Dark Show up. Part 3 starts with everyone getting the living daylights beaten outta them by General Dark(see the second gif), then cue Grendizer music. ShinGetter and Grendizer show up to save the day.. when suddenly a new enemy appears(forgot the name.. anyone here who can help? ). Then it's Mazinkaiser to the rescue. (The short ends with Mazk zooming in on the battlefield) BTW, it's also the source of the Grendizer and Getter G gifs Kidchuckle posted on this site before . Gold

Cool toy. I'd have bought it already if it were the great mazinger version, but the mazinkaiser version looks pretty different. Still looks nice.

I thought Aoshima Mazinkaiser was big but Dai Shogun is huge, just one question can his scabbard attach to his belt someway so he's not holding it all the time?

I thought Aoshima Mazinkaiser was big but Dai Shogun is huge, just one question can his scabbard attach to his belt someway so he's not holding it all the time? Nope, he doesn't have any way to fasten the Scabbard to his hips. I kinda dislike the chain on his hips too, It would've been nice if it were attached to a removable peg at the end. Hihihi, er.. thanks LancerX ;D, it wasn't my idea, I got the idea from the Mazinkaiser MTV(see insert .gif file on last part of first post).. be grateful I still left him a working right arm, the MTV had ALL of his limbs hacked off. Bwehehehe ;D ;D ;D Thanks KidChuckle, the "damage" was done with Tetsujin's "broken arm" Accessory. Just used at different scales and levels of "masking" in Photoshop 7.0. Even the "scratches" on GM's chest are from the same image, just "skewed" a bit BTW, I've also been receiving questions regarding the .gif files I posted. The images are from the Shin Getter vs. NeoGetter DVD. They're a part of the Special Features and is a 3-part MTV, lasting 2 minutes per MTV. Here's an image of the DVD boxset(Outer case on the far left): Remember to get the 2-disc version(I got mine in Hongkong 3 years ago, they're still around now. Really good English subs too.. even though the box doesn't indicate that it has any English subs.. must be a printing error). There have been single disc versions(pirated) running around but these DO NOT have the special features on the menu. Hence no MTV. Basically the whole thing was a buildup for Mazinkaiser OVA series(Shin vs Neo Came out months before Mazinkaiser). Gold

Looks good... I might have to get me one to go with my Aoshima Mazinkaiser, but not on my high priority list at this time, hopefully after Voltes V. I'm already impressed by how heavy the Aoshima Mazinkaiser, so I look forward to feeling General Dark's weight. BTW, Gold, what's an MTV? Is that like an OAV?

After seeing the picture of this monster with Mazinkaizer, I'm all over this bad boy. He's way bigger than I thought he'd be!! I also like the way he stands next to Doublas and Garada....

Oh well, it looks like that chain is long enough that you could wrap it around the scabbard a couple times to hold it.

Sweet! Thanks for the awesome review and pics Gold! Tempting, but I will definitely COUNT ON Aoshima's penchant for re-issues. There's bound to be at least 2 or 3 re-issues down the road.
