Is V5 SOC in the line of GX-30 or GX-31? Greattoys.net calls it GX-31 and I think somebody else here also calls it GX-31? May be GX-30 is for the Battle Fever and therefore will be released first before V5 GX-31?

GX-30 will most likely be Battle Fever. Nothing sure is known about V5, yet. Some sites report it as the GX-31, but I don't think there has been anything official, yet.

First of all, Happy New Year to all of you guys. I'm a Noobie, so please bear with me... From what I've read in the HLJ order form, the GX-30 is going to be Battle Fever Robo. Zinc Panic also states the same thing... Although I don't thing there's been official number for it's release, I hope it will be GX-31, and Voltes does not get delayed any longer.

Welcome! I like your avatar... reminds me of those old stickers that had dual images seen at different angles. In regards to Voltes, one would think that he is the next one after Battle Fever since we haven't seen any other designs or protos for another super bot...

Thank you for the warm welcome. Greatly appreciated. The avatar was just a little thing that can be done with freebie .gif editor floating around the net...
If I remember correctly, doesn't the prototype pics for the Voltes showed up before the Battle Fever? I hope that Bandai does not meet big production line problems for the Voltes to warrant a drastic change of design shown by the prototype pics (less die-cast... my worst fear).
Currently downloading the whole series of Voltes to reminisce childhood memories...

Yup Voltes proto's did show up before Battle Fever but then Voltes is probably a much harder toy to design and develope. As for diecast content I wouldn't be expecting anything more than 50-60% because of all the moving parts and stuff.

One think I still find strange in the proto-pics of the Voltes is the way the shoulder of the bazooka-arm positions during the Voltes Bazooka... Do you think they will be able to make adjustments to be more anime accurate before the final release?!
April is such a long way....

I doubt they'll change anything now I'm pretty sure the final design is locked and there just tweaking it. Besides in the Anime Voltes had some Anime magic with all the "bendable" metal and stuff.

Ya know, although it's still definately not perfect, the way the arm goes up on the shoulder so to speak for the SOC voltes bazooka is actually a selling point that was mentioned emphatically in magazine previews. I think it's still pretty cool that it does what it does.

I agree Ataru, Voltes looks like it will be the most complex SOC to date, I'm just hoping that all that complexity doesn't turn around and bite it in the ass.

I completely agree with Chen on the parts of the Anime Magic in works here. I just watched the Voltes V episodes recently, and there are just too many features, should Bandai decide to implement on the production issue of the Voltes SOC, would make the toy overly complex and fragile, not to mention expensive. I thought the built in voltes bazooka is cool, just not used to the new look yet...
I think the current prototype is enough too make me happy, as long as the joints are tight and the components itself are durable. However we have not seen any pictures or info stating that it will be able to transform into the Big Tank mode, or have we? Hopefully that feature is not left out, because the vintage Poppy can do it, and "the chogokin" version can do it.
I recall a resident in this forum creating a 3-d rendering of the Voltes... Is it finished yet ?!

nikodiablo, don't get your hopes up on that. So far SOCs haven't reproduced any gimmicks that aren't related to the original shows. That tank form is a toy original.

Rats... One can only hope... I did not actually see the Combattler Anime... Was its tank form actually in the anime?!

Hopefully that feature is not left out, because the vintage Poppy can do it, and "the chogokin" version can do it. There is no such a thing as tank mode in the anime. Moreover, implementing the tank mode would force the tank's wheel to protrude too far on his back, which makes the robot more fragile and ugly. I would prefer that they left it out! Don't add any feature to the robot that is not originally in the anime.

i think the tank mode is just v5's version of combattler v's grand dasher. it's not in the anime but in the jumbo machinder toy, v5 transforms into a "tank" so kids can ride on the huge toy.
if they were to add stuff so v5 can do whatever he did in the anime, then i suggest they add a trsnsparent umbrella type thing where you can put the volt machines, that way you can spin them with the crewzer in front, doing v5's version of combattler v's chodenji spin, known to many as professor sakunji's spin-fly technique =)

Was its tank form actually in the anime?! yes combattler v has a tank mode in the anime. it's called the grand dasher. first he fires the grand wave rail which is like a huge pink road with the enemy at the end. then he transforms into a tank and plows right through the monster.

Wow, thanks for the info Warchimedes! Since I didn't see the Combattler anime, there's no way I could've known this fact... Too bad, I think that the big tank mode would be another great feature for the SOC Voltes (just wouldn't be anime correct)...

Did you get it from someone else or did you translate it yourself? Anyway, I must salute you for your good work. The translation is perfect
