I just bought the trio GX18/19/20 from a guy in Singapore totally sealed in C10. (ebay job).
My question is this, the Dragon and Poseidon have numbers pressed into the back of the torso but the Liger doesn't. Is this right?
Ps. My first post, so howdy to all you robotophiles.

I was just a bit suspect over bootlegs! mind you, if people go to this length to bootleg stuff they must be good.

Welcome to the board dirtyroboto! I wouldn't worry about bootlegs of SOC' because there just to complex and of such high quality that it would cost the bootleggers more to make them than what they could sell them for.

Heh. I'm from Singapore, and I just recently bought GX18,19,20 as well. I wouldn't worry anout bootlegs either, but what I've been told (by the seller here), is that there are 2 makes; made in Hong Kong and made in Japan. The Japan issues cost more here and are said to be of higher quality and better resale value. Me, I buy the Hong Kong ones which go for less but they seem mighty fine to me...

These guys are from Japan said the seller. Anyway they took 1 week to get here and I paid 89 GBP for the collection of three. 18/19/20. I must admit I was in two minds as to opening them or keeping them boxed. but boyish curiosity won the day and I am now the proud owner and player of my first 3 getter.
I should point out that I owned a few originals as a kid and this was the reason for buying these old friends. I also had 2 PVC robots that were about 2 foot high.

All SOC's are made in Hong Kong, the ones shipped too Japan get a licence sticker put on for customs but other than that they are the same quality. If you are getting charged more for ones with the sticker then your getting ripped off.

Ah, the old With Sticker Versus Without Sticker debate again. The conclusion is all SOCs are made in China.
From my experience, the chances of getting an SOC with quality issues are the same with or without the official sticker on the box. However, I heard from toy sellers that you can return or exchange SOCs with defective quality issues with Bandai Japan - that is, if it has an official sticker.
Of course, mint SOC boxes with official stickers have higher value on the secondary market, but I don't plan to resell. I prefer to buy the less expensive Hong Kong issue since I can use the money saved from buying the Hong Kong issue for the next SOC release.
By the way, GX-24 didn't have any official sticker on both the Hong Kong and Japan issues. Some sellers sold their Hong Kong issues as "Japan issue". In contrast, the recent GX-24M now has a Hong Kong issue sticker on the back of the box. Of course, you can easily remove the sticker.
