the reissue GX-05 Daiku Maryu has just hit our shore the original issue of which was released in April of 2001 with a price of 9800 yen (roughly P4,900). Llocal retailers here in the Philippines are now accepting orders of the reissue GX-05 Daiku Maryu with a price ranging from P5.8 to P6K (roughly 12000Y). Im quite new in collecting SOCs. Just started last May upon the released of GX-31 Voltes V being a big fan of the super robot. I started this thread cause i want to ask you guys for information on the old daiku as to it flaws, if any and the overall rate for the toy as compared to the new release (if ever you guys already have one). Im quite into a dilemma right now on which to buy the GX-05 reissue Daiku Maryu or the recently released GE-10 Gaiking?
Any information, comments or views, whether positive or negative will be highly appreciated.

hey rodel, i hope i can help you in some way with this. i have the original GX-05, GX-05R, and GX-05B as well as the full size Gaiking. of course the major difference between the 05's and the Gaiking is the size of the main robot. the 05's Gaiking is rather small and is meant to become Daiku Maryu's head in its dragon form. the main difference between that i could tell with GX-05 and 05R is the color. i am not sure if you could call 05R an 'anime accurate' coloring but there is a notable difference in the paint used between the two. The GX-05B (black version of the original 05) is just that, its black. Although it does come with a pewter figure. so i suppose the big question is what kind of robot you wish to display in your collection and if you prefer the dragon to the robot. i couldnt decide, so i got them all but the new GE-10 is a re-release of the full size Gaiking SOC only with added accessories (weopons, chest plate, etc.) to more closely resemble the new anime (Legend of Daiku Maryu) as well as some difference in the size of the head (i think) i am sure that a lot of the other guys here will add onto what i have said or for that matter correct anything i may have been a bit off on. but in the end, i guess its ultimately up to what you want and how much you want to spend and what tailors to your tastes in regards to robots. also, hope that transaction with that Golion you wanted went well. see Pare, Tsurugi

Unlike the other black socs which comes with a pewter fig of it's pilot, the GX-05b comes with an extra gaiking with a different color. GX-10b does not come with a pewter fig.

Between the Gx05 versus the Gx05R. Get the Gx05R, Gaiking combines better, and the paint finish has greatly improved over the original Gx05. BTW, I'm referreing to the original Gx05R, I haven't seen the latest Gx05R reissue that just came out yesterday though. As for GE-10 versus the Gx27 "classic" Gaiking, get the Gx27. It just looks better. Besides, knowing Bandai, they'll release the support ships later on for the GE-10 to combine with(just like in the anime) and will probably release a giftset or something. Between the Gx05R and Gx27, get Gx27. BTW Here's a photo of the Hongkong item(taken from Ebay) for the new Gx05R reissue. Gold

Does it come for free or you need to buy it? if not how much does this costs? Hehe in Hongkong it's free but unfortunately for us we have to pay "extra" for those items(20$ extra more or less here in Manila) Gx27 more or less goes for 4800PhP I think and Gx05R around 6000PhP. I'm not totally sure, I haven't checked the prices lately Gold

Hmm perhaps this is one of the privileges of the retailers to have free hk items. D**n life is so unfair. But i guess the GX-27 will have to wait. Still saving money for the second (i will not upset some members) best SOC this year. the gunbuster. Hope to get Gaiking this December though as a gift to myself. just looking forward for my next soc purchases. he he he

TIA. thanks.. but my GX-05R asia limited didn't come from ptoys at all.. my wife ask one of her officemate/crewmate who recently had a vacation trip from hongkong to look for one.. finally found and bought one with a faded outer box , torned flaps but the inner small box of the 05R are mint almost C8-C9 condition together with a black gaiking.. i can't help to hug and kiss my wife that time, i must be proud of her because i've never told her that it was my missing piece from the entire line but hence still keeps me wondering how the hell did she knew that.. without knowing her plan, never asking me what i want nor what i need.. though a little bit late because are wedding anniversary was on the 7th of july.. i received it fresh from hongkong on the 16th... even if i keep on asking how much.. she insist.. but still i'm the best without her knowing too.. i've ask her crewmate last night about the price.. LOL.. so it was $85.. my poor wife.. with her $6 salary a day.. how many days of work just for my 05R.. i love my wife.. even without the 05R
