Lots of the SOCs don't have any trouble with the arms being extended out sideways though, and they look fine. All of the mazinger types, the BF robo, xabungle, etc. It has to be a tradeoff with the eva design, but I think it's a worthwhile one. Consider the large tradeoff on the SOC voltes at the hips- those ball joints dont look as anime accurate as the same areas on the combattler and zanbot, but they give the toy some amazing posability.
I don't really disagree with you that much when it comes down to it, but that shoulder articulation is the main reason I didn't buy a SOC eva for myself, after messing around with a friend's one. I might get this new eva, but there's too much we still don't know about it for me to say for sure.

well i already got the four soc versions (purple, red, blue and yellow), and the articulation sideways doesn't bother me that much. might as well pass up on this new eva and save for upcoming gokins.

Um, excuse me if I'm wrong or if somebody else noticed, but that's a new SOC drawing there on the right. It does not look like Ideon, so what is it?
