He all, I was wondering if you could help me out a bit. I'm kinda new and looking for a website or something that can give me a history of this line. I know it dates back to the 70's, is the oldest toy line in Japan, and has a connection to Voltron and Power Rangers. I'm just trying to fill in the gaps. Thanks.

History? No history for this line, bandai just trying to make more $$$ so they produced the first "super detailed big chogokin" SOC at 1997, after that they went on and on, re-issue once,twice,third... ...

Your probably thinking of the old Chogokin and Popy lines from the 70's which were sold in North America as the Godaikin and Shogun Warriors line and came in different sizes. Yes, they did include Super Robots from many genres like Sentai/Power Rangers, Mazingers, Getters, Dancouga etc. Here is a link to some info about that line. www.toyboxdx.com/popy/popy_data/popy_index.htmThe SOC line itself is a modern day interpretation of the old Chogokin/Godaikin/Popy line. It started in 1997 with GX-01 Mazinger Z, there has been speculation that GX-01 was initialy intended to be a HCMP model but Bandai decided at the last minute to instead add diecat and make it a figure line instead of a model one. Which could also explain why a good portion of the GX-01 is self assembly.
