For many people on the board, there are no differences between japanese versions and others. However, from what I have gathered, there indeed are differences in mainly quality control and certain small elements like joints as well. Anyone have thoughts on this issue?

The only difference I can tell is a little sticker and a higher price for Japanese ones. I think the main thing is that Japanese ones are officially approved by Bandai and aren't one of those "back door" ones you may get from a Hong Kong seller.

It all acmes from the same shop so it's the same toys, same quality control, same seal. Only the sticker differ, and in some case a region may get a special items. Also because some thinks because it's a japanese it's better, so price get higher. But it's the asme. Like the SOC we got here in USA, they are the same quality as Japan one.

Actually BANDAI seems to also approve the HK Versions(u just have to watch out for fakes i.e. make sure they have some copyright or the Bandai HK sticker). It's the companies and studios (where the characters originate from) that approve the Japanese versions thus most of the time you see them w/ a Dynamic sticker or TOEI seal of approval on them and never the HK versions(b/c there are no Toei,Toho, etc. studios in HK).

For those that has a lot of extra cash and like topay more, those are the people that buys the Japanese version. But for the majority of people that just want to buy these collectible, not for resale, but for display, play and collect, it doesn't matter. We all look for a bargin and if the other version sell for a dollar cheaper, chances are people would get the other version. As for quality control, that's a myth. As long as its not a bootleg being produced at some unknown plant, the two version should be exactly the same. Now, sometime a whole batch might be bad and have bad joint and/or paint flaws. These figures are produced in masses and sometime, they dont catch these mistakes and a whole case/batch gets messed up with the same problems. I dont care for the differences in version because I don't want to waste money on items I think are the same. OF course there are people in this world with a lot of money and don't care to pay more. These people like to buy the rare first issues, ie, the year on the box says 2000 instead of 2006. Just like collectors of baseball cards, if you have the money, you can buy GEM MINT, while a lot of people are just fine with MINT.
