In depth gallery at toysdaily. Slow loading but worth the wait. Hard to tell which parts are diecast though, except for the ankle joints.

I'm wondering how well all those pieces are going to stay on the frame while handling this figure. Looks like a possibility for lost parts.

I acutally canceled my pre-order for both SOC spec toys.
I didn't want to pay that much money for SPT Layzner's gimmics.
Eva looks too similar to saint seiya myth cloth figures. If it is indeed just like saint seiya figures, I can pass on it. It's not that I don't like SS figures. I bought number of them myself. But in my opinion, SOC gx-01r or gx-35 is simply better than any SS figures (and thus better than SOC spec Eva).
One of the problem (depends on how you look at it) with the SS figures is that the main body frame is plastic (most of it except the feet and ankle) and the armour is metal. this mean weaker joints. and for most of the figures while the armour pieces are not loose, they are not tight fit either.
If Eva was like metal material gundam where the frame is metal, but the cloth is plastic, then I think it's a different story...
But all in all, the idea of putting armours on is a cool concept, but in actuality, it just makes figures/toys that much more unstable and undesirable in the long run, I think.
Instead of buying spec figures, I'd rather save up my money and buy other SOC or Gundam fix metal grade figures (assuming they will release other gundams in the future)

Afterall, its not that much more expensive than the original SOC version, and this one is bigger, has improved articulation, and the gimmick depicting the anime's giant cyborgs theme that no other Eva toy has done before.

Looks good, die-cast content baffled me but I guess this is good considering the armor pieces. Hope a reissue of GX-14 fixes the arms and makes it like the Spec's arms.

Hi people! Judging from the pictures, I can see this Eva figure is clearly a Saint Seiya Cloth Myth rip off concept.. But that's not a bad thing at all! In fact, I own almost every Saint Seiya CM figure, and I must say they are beautiful and Bandai has re-engineered the core body of the figure twice, achieving more poseability options. Now, this concept translated to the EVA figure means we can expect a totally dynamic toy, very anime accurate! BTW, this figure really honors Bandai's line as you can really see the SOUL of the Chogokin! As for the SOC Spec line itself, I believe the "dress up" concept can be cool, and we should wait and see what Bandai has up its sleeve. Personally, I'd love to see a Genesis Climber Mospeada (Robotech's 3rd generation) Bike, you know, the one that transforms and becomes the armor of the riders. Even though, it might not classify as a "robot" itself, I think it could somehow fit into this "dress-the-figure" thing, plus I always wanted one of those as a kid! Well, just a little daydreaming... Peace!

Diecast content pics from tamashii: Thanks GDomino. I'm still kinda undecided about the toy but at least the diecast parts aren't as few as I first thought. Gold

I got my Spec Eva a few days ago.
I LOVE it! Are they going to do a version for Unit 2?
