Is there a price guide for these anywhere? thx. I hope not, or else that will encourage scalping and hoarding. Mark ups on rarer pieces should not be too far from SRP, and information on SRP is easily available.

Price guide don't reflect market values correctly because from the time the information is collected and printed, it's already outdated. Beckett price guide for Sport cards are useless because all the hot cards they mention in the magazine are old news. Just do a little research on Ebay. There is an option on ebay that show all Completed Listings. Look at what people are paying for which ever SOC you are interested in and get an average price. I don't think price guide help in encouraging scalping. Price guides are misleading sources that let a person feel good about his/her collection. It mislead them to think that their collection is worth more than it really is. Nothing sells at book price. Just look at some of the BUY IT NOW auctions that some ebay store seller are trying to sell their stuff at. The overprice items almost never get sold. Price guide are useless to me. I look at the original retail price and set a price that I am willing to buy a certain SOC at. I don't see a reason to overpay for any regular SOC because it seem like they always get reissue.

Yes, but the very existence of a price guide may lead non-fans/non-collectors to believe that there's an active, possibly profitable, secondary market for SOC's. The entry of such people into our hobby will mean hoarding, scalping and crazy mark ups.
