I just acquired my GX-03 from jlist. Kind of disappointed, really poor packaging, the box was obliterated to grade C8 or lower. They put the item in a bag and surrounded it with bubble wrap. Will not order from them again. However, the contents were untouched. I read the manual and could not get the Battle Crasher to fit perfectly into the Battle Tank. I didn't want to force it, because the components seem too fragile - either break or scratch. Any remedies for this? Or am I not combining Choudenji properly? *Also, I didn't like how the Battle Marine slides into the Battle Tank. The tail rudder of the Battle Marine seems to rub against the Battle Tank... leading to scratches! GX-03 has a good amount of die-cast, but I'm not too happy about the engineering. It just can't compare to Voltes V.

Please consider that Voltes V was made in 2006 while the Combattler was made more than 6 years ago

The chest of Combattler V does lock together securely, but its very tricky. But I haven't messed with it for more than a year, so can't give you specifics. And I did chipped some orange paint while learning the trick. Though I wouldn't worry about the parts looking fragile. They are not. Never heard of people breaking the Combattler chest before. But its common that people had some hard time combining it on the chest. From what I remember, you do it very close to how the instruction tells you to, but insert the top (No.2) in a slight angle instead of straight down like in the instruction sheet. If you get it right, the red plastic shoulder you need to press down will have more resistance than usual, and usually make a sound when it goes in. If it locks, you will see a tiny orange gap in the front blue chest, where the N0.2 & No.3 meets, with a tiny bit of the orange paint underneath from No. 2 shows through. If you manage to have the blue parts covering the orange completely(looks better), your chest won't lock correctly. See if this helps. Even when I figured it out, it usually takes me a few trys everytime before the thing locks. Though once you get the hang of it, Combattler V is pretty fun and sturdy. My first release has a loose ankle (yellow plastic part for Grand Dasher mode transformation) that need a couple drop of super glue to thicken the round peg to give it more friction, preventing Combattler to fall face flat. Other than that, everything else is great.

got the same problems too on my combattler... yeah there was a tricky part on the chest.. but to avoid paint chips... i put a thin plastic wrapper on the number 2 machine before i put it on the number 3 machine... make sure that the plastic was thin enough that would not hinder the locking mechanism.. plastic wrapper i've used was the ones found wrapping the combattler machine upon opening the box from the factory.....

Wow, you sure? Combattler V is still a very fun one, and all its flaws are pretty much fixable. When Zambot 3 is even in your consideration, you can't pass on Combattler V that easy. Voltes will be real lonely without his big brother.

yeah, but you know voltes is more stable & has more poseability. it seems like no one wants combattler. hobbylink put a sale on him. on ebay, he only sells for less than $100 for auction.
i get the feeling, there's no love for this model, only the orig. popy version.
c'mon, combattler is kind of goofy looking compared to voltes. but my friend says voltes looks goofy too. he said it looked like it had a cone on its head. =P he prefers golion.
if i sell it, i could always use the $$$ for a zambot or ideon. those are too bad-ass!
