Just wanted to know what you guys thought what SOCs are the most playable I know some with the magnet just wouldn't work for getin down and dirty outside not that Im saying that these are meant for that but what ones are the ones that would stand up to being actually played with... Maybe a top 5 or so ..
Thanks WhatJ

Actually, many SOCs are quite playable, but not to an extend tossing them around. The smaller stand alone ones might be more of what u are looking for. Though I do find the combiners still very playable in general except a couple. Though 'play' is definitely very subjective.

My definition of "playable" now is the ability to change to a new pose everytime I clean up the shelves from dust once in a while.
In that sense, I consider all of my gokins playable (some gives more range of pose than others, particularly the new ones).

I stick with the Go Nagai characters(Mazingers, Grandizer, Getta Robos) and they're all quite sturdy and I handle them regularly. The pose, fight, fire their fists, and occassionally step inside a wrestling ring for a RoboRoyalRumble!! If you're planning on going outside with them, you might consider the Black version, the finish won't scratch as easily.

Leopaldon feel pretty durable to me, out of the SOC's I own it's the one that feels most like a toy and doesn't need to be handled with 'kid gloves' Tetsujin 28 and Black Ox feel pretty robust as well, but I still worry about the paint

Hey, I'm new here, this is my first post... I've got a SoC Eva 00' on the way... how do the Evas hold up playability wise? I've also got a Spec Eva on the way, but I assume that one is more for display bc/ it;s mostly plastic... I figured that because of the die-cast, the SoC Evas should be pretty durable.

Welcome to the board. Both SOC and SPEC Evas are plenty durable, though the SOC is less posable, the shoulders on the SOC Evas don't have lateral movement, raise sidewards, so don't force it.
Also, becareful when pulling out on the SPEC Eva's knees when putting or removing the armor. Do not twist since the plactic joint used for the knees are fragile.

Thanks for the reply... sorry if this sounds really stupid, but which axis of movement are you calling lateral for the SoC Eva shoulders? do you mean they can't move outwards like wings, or cant rotate forwards and backwards?

Leopardon is easily the best SoC I've handled to date in terms of overall playability. He feels like you could easily chuck him at the wall with only a few paint chips. That aside, he more or less feels like falling apart is extremely low on his priority list, so to speak. Transformation is nice and solid too.

Are the EVAs the best as far as poseability? Also, which is better? the regular or spec version?

Lateral movement means outwards from the sides, raising the arms to a horizontal position; like This... <sigh> I could Never draw Getters good enough with WindowsPaint. The most I'd play with my figures would be to just pose them long enough for still-image animation photo shoots. Sometimes I just don't know my own strength, and I end up breaking a figure from trying to force it into a pose for which the figure wasn't originaly designed to do. zozo-Magengar Thanks for the reply... sorry if this sounds really stupid, but which axis of movement are you calling lateral for the SoC Eva shoulders? do you mean they can't move outwards like wings, or cant rotate forwards and backwards?

Ha, megengar, thanks for the idiot proof response... clears that up. Not having that bit of motion shouldn't be an issue seeing as my SoC Eva will probably spend most of its life climbing up my computer monitor and beating up the other figures on my desk. Most of the toys I own are real big premium type fiugres that cost alot and are pretty durable and posable, but not the best for fooling around with.... I got the SoC Eva for not a bad price, so it should do nicely as a mucking around with figure.
