'when SOCs flying towards your HOME,'
..from various online stores, but particularly hlj,
does your goods get damage often? And I mean that by the
"box" itself, rather than the "goods"??
Hi everybody, this is my first thread and post on this board..,
I really want to know the answer, so I take up the courage and
well, hah, just post a thread here..
The reason I asked is, my orders of SOC (and other toys and model kits) often arrive in either perfect conditions, AND in not so perfect conditions.
Usually, if it's a small item, say an HCMpro freedom gundam, for example, well if 2 of its corner were damaged (big dents), or the surface face-up is indented - I will feel bad, but not enough to write a complain, let along writing a new thread and posting on this board.
Then again, I will have to ask the question "is the box such a big deal!?" just to be fair.
I have been doing major research on many SOCs lately, that's how I come to this board. I've got tons of useful information, thank you you all, and I have also seen people posting, saying how their toy boxes got damaged in the process.
True, that the 'world acclaimed SOC' is in no way more expensive than some truely expensive toys, models, or acessories, but they're nevertheless 'not cheap,' and is something that
YOU WANT TO KEEP IN AS PERFECT THE CONDITION AS POSSIBLE
BECAUSE YOU LIKE IT.
Or not. But I do. And frankly, from everything I've read here, I think you all do too. The thing is that I can't turn to anybody else and say, "hey this is not fair I don't like this", so I will have to ask and hear comments from you fans and collectors here.
I read from a thread somewhere with people showing pictures of their packages being sent from hlj damaged, I forgot which thread..
Some of the time it's the postal service's fault, I understand this aspect; but then, comes the actual packaging of hlj (and not just them, but this time I'm narrowing towards hlj because my socs are recently purchased from them)
By examples, my Ideon came in a HUGE box, initially I was freaked out. I thought that it is not necessary and the 3 feet parcel is the reason for the high shipping cost and custom fee.
I emailed hlj and they replied that it's by the cost of the content.
What a relief! I settled with all the extra costs..
because my Ideon is in PERFECT shape! Really, no scratch, no dents, no nothing; I've never seen anything like this - when I got my votom boxes crashed, microman container slightly bented -
I mean, sure those are small items and hlj will pack it with the "card' wrapped around them - I'm sure you know what I mean by it, but for a huge box (the socs) that's almost the size of your PCs,
that's quite hard to do!
I was impressed, but then I was disappointed when my Zanbot arrived crushed on both sides. That happens when they
a) don't put air packs on 'All four sides',
and
b) when 2 sides or more stick directly to the inner surface of the parcel box itself,
this is where I'm at right now - I remember seeing a member posting his parcel with the macross all 6 of them being shipped with no air pack, just all toy boxes exact-fit to the parcel!.. and arrived with no damage to any of the box! Well, I certainly don't think this method is really safe. But why won't hlj put this 'protection' on all sides?
(I actually asked them too - they say they do it the best way, and that is it. Then they side-track it to talk about it's the postal's issue.)
Well, what do you think? Am I over concerned regarding my boxes? Should I email hlj again and force them on perfectly wrapping my items or else no deal with them anymore?
I have never tried Big bad toy store's additional packing service - the one that adds $1~2 on your purchased item. Will that help, should I switch to buying from BBts on large expensive-r toys from now on?
I really don't see why they will reply saying packing has already been done in the best way, when they could pack my zanbot the same way they pack my ideon (4~5 sides air packs).
I used to think that the 'touching tightly to the parcel method' works too, I now I really can't trust this anymore..
btw, I love zanbot more so than ideon, for those who are still considering, I say go with zanbot.
- ideon is too plain, and surprising only 2 pairs of those clicky ratchet joints - watch JoshB walker galliar youtube review to learn why -
- ideon play value is lower, really have no weapons, with the gun and swords treated as separated display pieces rather. Can't hope them.
- zanbot, great play value. Fan modes, weapons, accessories that actually can integrated into zanbot itself.
- cooler vehicles from zanbot, lots of clicky joints (feels great),
and even ideon is more dynamic in term of posing, it's too heavy to hold them. Lack of weaponary kills cool poses as well. And Ideon costs more.
added:
- many design flaws can be found on ideon as well. Example is,
in mech A, the front tip of tank, its top part, cannot close tight at All, will always leave a visible gap. I really surprised that I've never read a comment anywhere online regarding this problem.
So is the abdomen area on mech B. Visible gap in robot mode, the 2 side cannon that supposed to fold out? They leave gap.
- too much plastic area -shoulder pads, arms, chest, abdomen......
- hard to utilize the visor gimmick of light, can't hope the ideo gun,
no suspension on all vehicles, not enough details
That's it for now. I do want to hear your comment on box condition and shipping method though. (if you're ordering, say Ideon, from other vendors, I do recommend to ask them as to how they're going to pack you box. Since, the SOC boxes is actually so fragile, in thin paper box, and not being offered in stronger material, or like those of the Sentai robots....)
Thanks!
