Does the Soul of Chogokin Spec SPT Layzner have any die cast?
Are you guys happy with this robot?
I am debating whether to get it or not...

I got mine on clearance and I was pretty happy with it. I am at work right now and cannot comment on the diecast content too well, but I seem to remenber it did have some diecast - but not much. I do think it was over-priced at original retail and I would not pay full price. However, if you are a fan of the robot, this is a pretty good figure.

Hi robwhit1. How much did you pay for it (f you don't me asking)? Nope, I have no idea who this robot is. I am just an addicted SOC collector. Okay, technically, this is not even a "true" SOC. The unit is just available in one of the local ecord store here in Boston. It taunts me to buy it each time I go there.... It's a challenge to resist SOC's.

I paid $55 for it at the BBTS a couple of months ago. It is worth around 50-60. I think it was originaly around $80. I can follow-up when I get home tonight with the diecast content. But I would not consider this to be a good fix for an SOC craving. It is smaller then most and lighter than most SOC's. However, I liked the robot design and was happy with the figure overall.

Mazfan, The Layzner actually has a decent amount of die cast. However, all of it is in endoskeleton, which is covered by plastic panels. I guess this is why I could not remember too much of the die cast content. Most of the legs and parts of the body and joints are die cast. The closest thing I hvae to compare it to in my collection are the GQ gundams or composite gundams. It is similar to those just in a smaller scale. As far as size and weight, it is best to compare it to the Xabungle. It is about the same size (just a little heavier & taller than the Xabungle). Nowhere near as many accessories, but it does have the talking stand and a second set of panels to change it to an overdrive mode (I'm not sure what this mode is actually called?). Again, I like the design of the bot and their aren't too many options for picking it up. If you have the cash and it is at a good price, go ahead and get it. If you are debating between this something else, let me know I may could give you a comparison.

I don't know much about this character but I picked it up at Boton cause I thought it looked cool. I love it! It was one of my favorite purchases from Botcon. It does have die-cast and is an all around fun toy. I don't know that I would have impulse bought him at $80.00 but $50-$55 was definitely worth it.

I just got one today and I like it alot.Think in terms of a heavier HCM.with more acessories.Looks to be in scale with Xabungle And Walker-Gallier.Very posable and looks really cool, decent amount of DC.Wouldn't have gotten it at retail but LAF.has them for $49.00 which made it easier to decide.Smaller but all in all I'm very satisfied with it.It is comparable to a Gundam in design and it is a real robot,it comes with a pilot figure to sit in the cockpit and the visor is raisable and lowerable for flight or land mode.I'm going to display him without the stand.

How come they didn't just make this a regular SOC?

The talking stand is OK I guess. I really only use it for putting the Layzner into attacking or flying poses. As far as what it says, I'm not sure (it is all in Japanese). I have only heard it say 1-2 different things, it mostly just plays sound effects. I don't know what qualifies a robot to become an SOC vs a a GE or Spec. I have heard that more recent bots cannot be SOC's but I have no idea if that is true.

I should add that it comes with extra armor parts for 2 versions of the Layzner. The atmosphere & Space version. Overall I am also satisfied with mine.

I read a review somewhere that the plastic armor parts are difficult to attach and might warp after frequent parts swapping. Did anyone encounter this?

I read a review somewhere that the plastic armor parts are difficult to attach and might warp after frequent parts swapping. Did anyone encounter this? Gold The difficulty I encountered was in putting the shoulder armor on. It's just the way the armor pegs attach to the sockets. They made it so that it is difficult for you to apply pressure without moving the socket for the armor. its not that bad. As far as warping?....haven't really experienced that yet. Mind you, I've only owned it for a few months.

Ditto that, but once it's on,it's on.You have to hold the arm in such a way as to force the peg up because it's on a pivot.Once you get the hang it's not too bad,not like the New Material Gundam shoulder issue..

Besides the talking stand, what are some of the gimmicks (e.g., opening hatches) that it sports? About how tall is this figure? I read somewhere that it's about 5.5". Is this correct? Are there any good online reviews of this bot?

Anyone have the Kotobukiya SUGOI version of the Layzner? It's on sale at HLJ. Worth getting?

Anyone have both the Layzner and the Xabungle SOC? One better than the other? I'm debating about getting one or the other or both. Found some reasonable prices for these SOC's.
