True there, bro. I was just under the impression that Bandai would take advantage of that robot's Magnetic properties, as seen in the animes, and play on that to produce a superb Jeeg SOC product that would be a significant item in its own way... The other SOCs already have magnetic joints and some magnetic accessories-- But Jeeg already being the magnetically-jointed robot, as he Builds Up in robot and weaponry, would Wow SOC fans just as good (even Better) as what Baron Karza and Force Commander did in the Micronaut toyline... ...Magnetic interchangeable parts, limbs, and accessories- PLUS a magnetic interchange between Jeeg Humanoid robot form to Jeeg/Baruba and-or Jeeg/Stallion modes. This would also be a great time for Bandai to use the Jeeg as an experimental template to design products that can launch weapons and missiles via Magnetic Repulsion instead of springs that can wear out over time with excessive play. Those launchable parts and weapons can still be locked in place the old-school way of stubs and ridges... then just press a hidden button and the parts shoot. Cool! See how one thing can lead to another! ;D zozo-Magengar He he he, good to have you back, my friend! Well for me, it doesn't matter which version Bandai release first, as long as it has good proportion and lots of die cast. The blue yellow and green fellow has eluded me for so long, that I will take it in any form available, since I don't like the proportion of the takara version, and the yujin version doesn't have any metal in it (plus the marmit one is so hard to find now...)

"Magnetic Repulsion instead of springs that can wear out over time with excessive play."
does not magnetic wear out over time too?

I just got a Microman Magnaforce figure. One of the problem is that the magnets sticks together but it does not offer any resistance (i.e like a hinge or ratchet joint) You can stand it with a lot of weight.
I wonder would the figure has problem supporting the mega bazook or holding weapon

I should have narrowed my "magnet theory" to a more specific thought... ...some magnets are stronger than others, and have their place in use. But, safety must also be considered... I don't know how prolonged exposure to magnets would affect a child playing with a magnetic toy.
I was trying to picture magnets being used in smaller detailed situations such as the toy's missile launchers and other would-be spring-loaded weapons and accessories that would replace the use of springs. For my personal use, I'd rather try magnets than work with springs ripped out from my mom's hair curlers. ;D
Answering Wilson's question: Darn, that makes me wonder if magnetic repulsion really does last long. I figure magnets do wear Out as much as they wear On.... there has to be an antethesis for this... I've left tools, nuts, bolts, and misc items stuck on speaker magnets for countless periods of time; to find them magnetized months later.
silver1spider' question Magnets are only good for their intended purpose. They'll hold up well with light-weight objects. But they won't hold a figure's pose in place for long. I'll have to experiment with a few magnets so I can return with more solid conclusions. Resistance... if the magnets can come out, simply turn them around so their Negative poles face each other. Obviously this won't make a toy missile fly across the room and cap someone in the eye at great speeds. But at least it will repel objects at close display distance. ;D

hahah one side note... powerful manetic toys.... are bad to have anywhere on your desk with a computer laptop!!!!!
you don't wanna put that near a hd or your monitor folks!
I was thinking.. bandai probably put the new jeeg out first because old fans and the new fans should potential generate more sales (because of the new show). Plus old fans will probably get the new one because theres no classic one to buy. I think its a clever way for bandai to get people to buy the new and the old.. by releasing it in this order.
My mind is spinning thinking about when they release the classic and the new... with all the swappable parts... awesome!

Closeup from toycan.net for Jeeg!! Why does it look like its made of plastic?

I'm thinking the biggest reason most of the parts are plastic, is the strengthof the magnets. Harder to pose if the weight is too heavy.

True. The magnets can only hold up so much weight, especially in action poses...

Does anyone have any issues with the old Jeeg staying together magnet-wise? I know magnets can lose their attraction over time. I suppose you could run some electrical current through them if they did to restore them.
In any case, I do like how this new Jeeg looks. I'm sure if it sells well then the old one can't be far behind.

I have the Takara Jeeg, but that one is a newer reissue. However, I do have the original Force Commander and Baron Karza from the 1970's (which are basically a Takara Jeeg engineering ripoff) and their magnets are still just as strong as when new.

Looks impressive!
A little sleek for my tastes though, since I prefer that chunkier/bulkier look of the classic Jeeg, but if this Shin Jeeg is a preview of a Classic version to come... I'm psyched!

I can't believe that SOC line has already completed the figures for the next 2 - 3 releases. Even tho Bandai is still releasing re-molds, but the new SOCs are coming like the flood!
