P.S. I have really gotten a kick out of the new Transformers Skids re-issues that Takara made. -Quite cool!

Beside of those vintage die-cast robots.... ;)well, I would choose the Dancouga Soul of Chogokin GX-13 because I haven't seen Bandai made a robot in that large for a quite while. I think that could be the toy of this year.

[bias mode=on]Being a Macross fan first and formost, I would definitely say the Yamato 1/48 Valkyries[/bias mode off]
Non bias, I would say the Gundam Deep Striker. I'm no Gundam fan, but the fool thing just rocks!

Every year great toys are produced. So far, this year, I have not seen anything as grand as the Dancouga.
The size, the "gattai", the "henkei", the details, the paint job.. all impress me.
The price? well...errr... Hmmm, probably fair enough.

Just recently got the metal body frame aile strike gundam and FIX deep striker... these little guys are very nice (and the yamato 1/48's are very cool too), but Dancouga all the way. The size, feel, complexity/gizmos and appearance of the GX-13 is hard to beat.
But who knows, I might change my mind when the Yamato monster comes out. ;D

Probably Takara's reissues of the Transformers G1 Jazz and Prowl.
I wasn't as much impressed as I was happy to see them though. There isn't much sitting on the toy shelves that excites me these days.

I have to go with Mechpunk, the BanDai SOC DanCouga has got to be the best this year so far....probably toy of the year period (I dought that there will be another toy this year that can match the grand scale of DanCouga).
I just got the Metal Material Stike Gundam....pretty nice toy over all. It is VERY different than the Titanium Turn A.

I'm waiting for my next acquisition which will be the SOC EVA Unit one. I have high hopes for this one, as every other Evangelion toy I've seen has been kind of cheesy looking. It's on pre- order from a shop in New York and I should get it in another four or five weeks. (how to make time stand still) Unfortunately, the only decent anime shop I know nearby is Neo Happyland in Chinatown Los Angeles, and I've never seen anything from the SOC line there. Which on second thought might not be a bad thing- my wife prefers food, gas, and electricity to robots. (but there's no understanding women, anyway) JWM
