Wow. I feel famous. As to the sets, they are Mechandar (or Mekanda) DX Technical gassin set. which consisted of the robot, and the car, and the plane, The Tri-Max Gassin car set, and the DX plane set (not interchangeable with the plane in the other set). All the figures are Bullmark purchased in 1977 or 78. The smallest Mechandar was sold in a bag-package, and was originally painted in red and blue. I bought bottles of Testors model paint to match the DX colors, and painted him myself. (go ahead and gag,ye purists). I don't know who made the trinkets; I think they came with some awful rice candy in a box. Thanks for the kind words. I'm putting together a semi coherent account of what I have and how I got it. I'll share more soon. Thanks again. JWM

Be careful, Ed. The Mekanda DX will scartch easily when you turn its arms. But it won't be a problem, since he is being with a good owner. Shaggy.

The toys are actually JWM's, but I'm sure he appreciates the hint on arm paint. Indeed, the used Mekanda I purchased had the arm paint completely worn off. Ahhh, but it has a cool toy-play-love feel to it. I try to think of all the missing paint as a "patina" like in the Antiques Road Show furniture

These sets were purchased twenty five years ago. The Mechandar deluxe box set sold for about forty bucks new. That sounds cheap, but consider that a month's rent on my apartment then was a hundred and twenty five dollars. It was expensive then- too expensive to give to a child, and really, too dangerous. Mostly these things sold poorly. That's why they disappeared after such a short time. But there's plenty of great stuff available now that will in time achieve classic status. That Dancouga set I keep hearing about is a good bet.(I want one!) Here's another thought: In 2000 Cartoon Network was showing Gundam Wing. You could (and I did) get the complete set of figures from that series cheaply, and easily by shopping at Target, kaybee, and Toys Are Us. Sure they're plastic, but so what? Here's the point: try and find a Gundam Wing figure now. You'll be on-line and probably buying overseas if you can locate one at all. I'm not into G Gundam, or I'd be snapping those up. And I keep my eye out for some Mobile Suit Gundam items. The show isn't airing anymore, and sometimes good stuff ends up on the clearance table. Time makes all of it rare. JWM
