Did Corgi and Grip use the same molds for their Batman line?

Just speculating, since I really don't know, but I would imagine the rights to ownership of the Batmobile design is controlled by DC comics, or some other independant entity, and this company/entity has given permission to these toy makers to make exact replicas of it. In other words, they could both have created nearly indistinguishable molds of the same product if the permission was granted to both companies, since neither toy company owns the rights to exclusivity. I think trade laws would probably require the two manufacturers to not target the same customer base, but places the onus of this on the copyright owner not to grant permission to competing companies. Does that make any sense?

Those are such great toys! Are they yours JB I happen to like the batcar/batboat combo the best followed by the tiny little Grip model. (assume the cave is just a photoshop mock-up) -E

Those aren't mine, but I do own a Corgi Batmobile and Batcopter. Very nice heavy diecast. There have been quite a few companies that have put out Batmobiles in the 60's & 70's; I just thought it was odd that Corgi & Grip are identical aside from the paint scheme & stickers.

I dunno... Maybe it can be chalked up to them both having equally high standards of quality? I wonder how these compare to the actuall batmobile. Perhaps they both copied it to the letter and thus ended up looking identical... Like I said, can't tell. Maybe they actually did share a mold.
