History lesson on Mazinkaizer and Shin Getter needed. I just watch the first ova of Mazinkaizer. I am wondering is Go Nagai still alive? Did he himself create Mazinkaizer and Shin Getter? OR somebody else took upon themselves to extend the vision.?
From what I use to think I remember, First there was Mazinger Z, then Great Mazinger.. then the cousin show Grendizer.. So I take it Mazinkaiser beats the crap out of Grendizer. Was there ever an anime where Grendizer, Mazinger and Getter Robo at the same time?
I like the ova Mazinkaiser. It feels like a good revamp without having repeat everything that happened to further the story. Plus all the original bad robots are back and made cool.
I didn't like Getter Robo Armageddon. For the very reason that the enemy had this T2/Venom spiderman quality. Where it could morph into anything and then be like jello. I don't remember the enemy robots in the old show to be like that at all..

Yep, the god of Super Robots is still alive and kicking! as for your question on whether Nagai's bot's have all come together in an anime, yes they did, though it's the only one I've seen so far. The movie is called Grendizer Vs. The Sea Monster. The movie includes Grendizer, Great Mazinger, Getter G, Dianan A, Venus Ace, and Bossborot. It was nice to see all of them together but the story was a bit lame IMO. Mazinkaiser OAV 3 has a "special" preview, though I am not sure if it was ever released as an OVA. It showcases Mazinkaiser, Great Mazinger, Mazinger Z, Grendizer, Shin Getter, Getter Dragun, God Mazinger, Jeeg, Aphrodite A, Venus Ace, and a couple more I don't recognize. It looked like a bad@ss anime. Right now, I am waiting to get the new Mazinkasier OAV. Mazinkaiser Vs. General Of Darkness. Hope that helps.

Thanks OMNI.. Were Getter Robo opponents always T2/Venom types.. You're welcome. Originally, the Getter Team was fighting dinosaur/reptile like creatures, but certainly nothing similar to the ones in Armageddon. From what I understood (and anyone can correct me if I am wrong), the story in Armageddon is somewhat of an alternate reality story. The same dinosaurs from the original, apparently, got overexposed to Getter energy in Armageddon, giving them that "T-1000" like capability, and the ability to possess humans.

OVA or OAV basically means its a direct to video release and not released in theaters. Example, Little Mermaid was released in theaters, but the 2nd installment was only direct to video.

I have a bootleg DVD somewhere that has the Sea Monster movie & Grendizer vs Great Mazinger - Great Mazinger is stolen from the Robot Museum and kicks Grendizer butt until Jack saves the day by exposing GM's one flaw...not a bad crossover
btw since we're in Super Robot mode, what happens to Mazinger Z after it is scrapped in the last episode?

I think I've deleted it since, but it's probably still available there. Good episode, though I found it troubling how damn easy it was to steal Great Mazinger. Seems like any two-bit thief could have done it. Heck, if it meant being able to pilot Great Mazinger, I might have even done it Oh, and welcome, Factasia! Looking forward to getting to know you
