Hello all! New person here, but I am sooo glad I found this board! Anyways, I was wondering if anyone had seen anything on the new line of GQ Series Chogokins from Bandai? They are kicking it off with the Force Impulse Gundam from Gundam Seed: DESTINY. I have the MSIA, but this one promises to be seriously slammin! www.amenbo.co.jp/cgi-bin/detail/detail-e.cgiAt least this photo shows the packaging and such in detail as well as all the gimmicks. From all accounts the GQ Series is basically the Metal Material Model series with a new name (Aile Strike Gundam, Turn-A Gundam, et al). Size wise it is supposed to be almost twice as tall as the Force Impulse MSIA. As soon as it arrives, I'll post some pictures if anyone wants to see! Anyways, glad I found the forum!

;D ;D ;D ;D TAH DAH!!!!! And he arrived TODAY! WHOO HOO! As anxious as I was to get the little bugger outta da box, I have to say the new job is a killer... so I didn't take as many pics as I could. I'll show more later, but these are nice enough to show some detail as well as scale. First off the packaging is nice, decent detail with the usual splash page of the new pilot. The reverse has details of Hand, Core Splendor, Weapons, Aile Strike Pack, etc. The interior of the packaging is efficient, and EASY to get into (none of those F*$&@($@ TWIST TIES to frustrate one). Accessories: Three sets of hands (open, rifle and beam rifle holding) One Aile Strike Pack (Impulse Varient) One Beam Rifle Two "Folding Razor" Knives Two "Vajra" Beam Sabres One "Mobile" Shield One Core Splendor Fighter One separate set of Antennae (these being hard plastic as the ones already installed are flexible not unlike the MSIA series... nice touch). Force Impulse comes in two parts with Core Splendor not installed. A decent enough instruction book and simple enough that even I could figure out where everything goes (give me a five year old and this would be even more simple). Posing so far seems a dream... more so than the Turn A MMM... but then again, they've had some practice. I never did get the Aile Strike or Launcher Strike MMM's (no money at the time) so I don't know how they pose. This little guy (little?!) is a dream to behold. Nice weight, decent posing, and the keylining on the head is most nice indeed. Per the instructions, you can have it separated into it's component parts: --(A) Parts: CHEST FLYER --(B) Parts: LEG FLYER --(C) Parts: Core Splendor It does come with some filler parts while it's in these modes. The REALLY nice detail is to the Core Splendor. When it's not docked, it has missle pods you can attach under each wing. There are longish ridges under each wing that they will fit rather snugly into, but I would imagine that after moving much over time they would become rather loose. The "Vajra" beam sable pommels fit into the Aile Striek housing when you don't have the beams inserted. The beams are the same color of translucent plastic as on the MSIA but NOT the same flexi-material. (PHEW) There are a two sets of poly-cap type inserts to cover the screw holes (mostly in the legs from what I can see). I haven't put them in yet, but I will eventually. The Aile Strike Backpack (randsell) has the main vernier moveable up and down (which can be a surprise *whups* when trying to install it on the body) and the balance verniers (or whatever they are called) have a very nice range of moment when it comes to posing. Arms and legs move damn nicely to be sure, and there's no slippage so far. From what I can tell, it has the same range of motion as the MSIA and more so. I haven't all AMURO with posing it too cool as I just got it (just sitting back and enjoying the glow as it were... not until when I got my Q'RAUU {a'la YAMATO}) but I'm sure over time I will. The Core Splendor has some very nice detail as mentioned and transforms smoothly. Fitting it into the base and top isn't hard at all (which is ALSO a nice suprise). ANYWAYS... I'm sure you wanna see what I am talking about, so take a click below! Sorry... I am not a professional pic taker... so deal with it! Am I happy? AM I satisfied with the wait? Ummm.. DUH! AM I GOING TO ORDER THE GQ/MMM SWORD IMPULSE?!! YOU BETCHA!!!! Well... each to his own... I know I'm getting the Sword Impulse, not so sure about BLAST... that variation just doesn't do anything for me (could go for a couple of spare Core Splendors though... just to have around for color mind you )

I look forward to getting one of these. I'm interested in the Blast Impulse variant. Thanks for the write-up.

I love my GQ Force Impulse!!! Paint job could've been better but this toy has enough good looks, heft, and gimmicks to make him a worthy purchase at just over $60 USD. His posability made me forget about the toy having less zinc than the Strikes. I haven't been in posing bliss like this since..... since the SOC Evas. The only real challenge here is getting the core-splendor to connect to the torso and the legs, but once I had that figured out, I was posing this toy in fighting stances for over an hour. Here's a shot of him with his MM bros. Yep, the boxart influenced me in his final display pose. Notice the dynamic pose compared to the stiffs behind him. ;D And here is your typical height comparison shot...

Maz isn't really that big BTW... Maz is actually the smallest of the three. And sorry for the grainy pics... had to minimize the file size for us dialuppers.

I don't like the new GQ MMM either. It's rather disappointing that the diecast contect was severely reduced.
The only good thing that came out of it, was the poseability. In any case, I'll be getting the Sword and Blast Impluse for the simple fact that they look damned cool!

Hey thanks for the review GDomino. I think that it really cool and happy that I ordered one. The pics look great to me. I'll be getting the Sword impulse as well. Question though, was that a MMM Strike (active mode) with the gatling on the shoulder? I have seen the sword/launcher strike (deactive), but I haven't seen an active mode one.

No worries about them being grainy (let's me know these are "real" pics - and not something the manufacturer put out to make the product look good). Looks great, actually. Almost makes me want to pull my Aile Strike MMM out of the case and pose it a bit for fun. Hey - What's that Gundam on the far right? I knew there were at least 2 Strikes: the Aile Strike like mine and a Launcher/Sword set in "Inactive" colours. And I've seen pics of a transparent-armour limited version too... The curiosity is killing me.

Thanks guys but the real credit for the review goes to Dancouga. Hey - What's that Gundam on the far right? I knew there were at least 2 Strikes: the Aile Strike like mine and a Launcher/Sword set in "Inactive" colours. And I've seen pics of a transparent-armour limited version too... The curiosity is killing me. heh heh, you guys are too funny...Its just another MMM (Aile) Strike with the Launcher accessories and Aile's shield and rifle, I wanted that "armed to the teeth Rambo" look.

Well, I have been unsure about getting it, as I read about the low zinc contect, but the poseability has me thinking...I love my MMM Deactive Mode, and even when the armor affects the poseability somewhat, it is a great looking figure, in my book..most probably I will pick up at least one Impulse...

Well, the MMM Strike is definitely king of the MM line but I think the Impulse comes at a close second... of course that's not saying much since there are only three toy designs for the line. If I was to get just one though, I would go for the Aile Strike... it's so hard to find one nowadays. I also like the Sword impulse... MMM RED!!! (pun intended).
