Which toyline needs to come back from the dead and be reinvented for the 21st Century or which show, cartoon, movie, or whatever needs a toyline bad.
For me it has to be Thundercats, that along with Transformers and Robotech were some of my favorite cartoons. I always thought The Cat's had some of the best Animation and stories of the 80's and needed the McFarlane treatment to go along with the new Comics from Wildstorm. I also loved the Centurions but I think there line still holds up today, with missiles that can still take out any three year olds eyes!

does anyone know if anyone has scanned images of those old comics? The originals are hard to find.. and I doubt marvel has any Graphic novel collection of them. I remember my cousins had a few issues.
Hmm right now most of my favorites have already been remade. Although I wouldn't mind seeing a newer version of the G! cartoons.. and Starvengers (gettarobo) using the same old designs.. same with Gaiking.. any other old school robots. (keeping in style of the original! like astroboy has been done.

I agree with Dragonclaw. I don't know if dragonclaw was referring to jumbo machinders, diecast 5", 2 in 1 figures, or all.
I'd like to see the ships (e.g. solar saucer, varitank, sky arrow, volt crewzer, etc.) be revised/modernized under the Soul of Popynica line.

I'd love to see the Godaikins brought back, or even better, Popy reissues. SOCs are marvelous, but the old school versions are timeless too.
As for bringing back old cartoons, an updated MASK would be interesting.

Reissues of virtually EVERYTHING.
Continuation of Coleco Starscom (there was so much left to do!)
Re-envisioning of Diaclone. I would LOVE to see a TF (or TF-like) series on a consistant scale with drivers and playsets.

There was never a toy line (oddly enough) but I'd like to see a comeback of "The Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers." It was like anime ...but American! What I mean is, it had a long complex developing story set within a rich universe that was only hinted at during the course of the show... and sadly was cancelled... truly a cartoon decades ahead of its time. Mask needs a toy-line revamp (and maybe a new cartoon). And Starcom needs a toy revamp too. When I say revamp, I mean redesign and not a reissue - there were glaring mechanical design problems with some of those toys... a lot of mine broke (and I don't mean I broke them because I was a careless kid - I mean they literally fell apart in some cases). "Soul of MASK" or "Soul of Starcom" anyone?

I'm not the original owner of that one either, so it could easily be from misuse.

Arkron. I'd like to see a line of toys that was actually fun to play with. I'd love to see a re-issue of the entire Ark line in a six toy gift-box with tons of spare parts. JWM

Sorry, should have been more specific...I was reffering to "All of the above" ;D Jumbo Machinder size, 5 1/2 inch size, pocket size, vehicles, a complete rebirth. GoDaiKins could easily be included either in the ship assortments (ala the old Combattra ships) or in gift box form. I love both lines but I think Shogun Warriors might have a better name to market since it would still need the mainstream and kids. I'd envision a new cartoon, done my the people who do Justice League, possibly a "post apocolyptic" world where humanity is screwed, under the heel of some powerful alien force (With it's own super robots & monsters...we gotta have big villains ). Humanity's only hope lies in legendary robots that have been lost and all but forgotten. This would allow characters to be introduced to coincide with the toy releases as the heroes fill "Shogun Sanctuary"...or worse as one of our heroic 'bots falls into evil hands and we get a Shogun v Shogun battle before the robot is liberated

What! Nobody wants classics like Dino Riders, Sky Commanders, or Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors

Ugh - Dino-Riders was the weakest excuse for a cartoon ever. Tell me you're joking... I didn't have as much with the friction gears on Starcom vehicles as I did with the pop-open features on MASK toys. My all-time fave was the VENOM "Switchblade" helicopter that turned into a jet. But the spring-loaded wings were so tight that after a few days, the tabs that held the wing back in copter mode just snapped from sheer pressure - the plastic had just worn itself out.

I'd pay good money to see Ban-Dai revive the Godaikins line. I want to get my hands on the Dynaman robo myself.

What! Nobody wants classics like Dino Riders, Sky Commanders, or Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors Ooh I still have A few Jayce and the wheeled warrior figures... Sky commander was kind of cool.. but man was it hard to find new places to make ziplines around the house!

What! Nobody wants classics like Dino Riders, Sky Commanders, or Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors Don't remember Dino Riders. I'll thoroughly agree that the other two had tremendous potential though. It would be cool to see them expand upon the interchangable parts aspect of Wheeled Warriors, releasing expansion packets with new, cool looking parts that can be put on older vehicles.

Hi,
I wouldn't mind myself if Bandai would re-launch the Godaikin line.

X-Bomber.
I realise by now that I am probably starting to sound a touch obsessed, but if you're familar with the show, there are at least three mecha/spacecraft which would make beautiful SOC-style toys.
There is, of course, the Big Dai-X - a combining robot tricked out with all kinds of missile launchers and details (and Bandai, during the 80s, made a combining/transforming robot that proves it is possible in principle).
Theres the X-Bomber itself, crying out for a God Phoeinx style rendition.
And then theres the enemy fighter carriers, one of my personal favourite starship designs - imagine six little launch arms attached to it, each holding a little fighter craft...

Well, personally I'd like to see a lot of Gerry Anderson `Super Marionation' brought back to life and reworked.
A new Space 1999- maybe call it Space 2150 and Joe 90 reworked to become Joe Apocalypse. Oh yeah, and UFO has to be reworked- gotta keep the chicks with the blue and purple bob haircuts and miniskirts though!
Have to be careful when reworking classic themes though, because they easily become victims of shortsighted corporate `Hollywood' fools that mistake `shi_ for shinola' (The Thunderbirds movie is a perfect example and the `Loonatics' sounds like interstellar dump).
Toylines? Over a year ago I went and visited Sonokong HQ and had a chat with a spokesman there- Sonokongs vision for toys resembles Disneys, Time Warners and Bandais- more emphasis on digital entertainment and less focus on boutique markets. Personally, I kinda think we're entering that period where toys are becomming heavily roboticised- it reminds me of that line in the movie `Back to the Future' where Marty goes to the future and he plays that cowboy shoot em up arcade game in the `80's Cafe'- and the kids watching comment, "Eeeww...baby toys!"
Has anyone else seen that new Sony robo kit that lets you build your own remote controlled dancing robot? Now that's the future. I'll always love my `statues' but that's the way people are gonna look at them (if humanity doesnt wipe itself out that is). The historians of the future will look at Jumbo Machinders and Mc Farlanes plastic toys and declare that they were the last of the `static toys' stretching back from before the first ancient civilisations to the early 21st century.
but if I could bring back any toy line ever made it would have to be the 1970's classic......................... `Smash Em Up Derby' cars... ;D Just how popular were SSP's toylines? Read for yourself...http://www.feelingretro.com/view_toy.cfm?id=15

Here's a link www.toyarchive.com/DinoRiders/DinoRiders.htmlThe show sucked the but the toys were actually pretty nice. I also remembered Silverhawks, Brave Starr, and a combining robot show that I think was American created called Orbots or somthing like that. Plus as someone else already stated they were like the Shogun Warriors to be re-released which they kinda have been. But I would like to add that I would love to see the 24" Jumbo's to return with modern design and sculpting.
