The three ships sold individually as the Gun Winger, Gun Loader and Gun Bomber are probably your best bet to try and find now. The DX set was a limited 30th anniversary set, and it almost never shows up on Yahoo Japan. It was kind of hard to find even when it first came out. If you keep searching you will probably be able to find the individual ships. It's a great set and worth hunting down. The Gun Winger and Gun Loader are almost all diecast. The Gun Bomber, while still really cool, is mostly plastic.

The only problem with the gunphoenix being sold individually is that you probably won't get the opening cockpit and its six removable pilots which really increases its "cool" factor at least to me Instead the cockpits are molded/ unable to open and blacked out

Well, true. The cock pits and figures are a very cool added gimmick to an already great toy. I love the cockpits. But.. the cockpits and figures are really just a cool bonus. The real fun is in the gattai action, groovy die cast ships, and the removable hover crafts. I also love how heavy duty this thing is. It's built like a real toy.

On Yahoo Japan I've seen the DX version going for between $150-$200. In the U.S. I've never seen it for sale on Ebay since it was first released, so I don't really know.
