The ABC warrior used in the Judge Dredd movie is from the original ABC lineup...He is Hammerstein (without his helmet and hammer arm, both of which he has been seen without at various times in the ABC Warrior comic strip). The ABC Warriors did not exist in the same universe as Dredd, they only appeared in the same weekly comic...But for some reason the producers of the movie decided to throw him in the mix (maybe he was a prop from a sister film project that was aborted, so to justify his expense they used him in Dredd)....
Hammerstein without the hammer??? That's like Batman without the costume. I have the first three ABC Warriors graphic novels as well as all the Nemesis ones where they appear and I can't recall ever seeing him without his helmet or hammer. Maybe that came later. Of course I was reading them 20 years ago, so perhaps I'm just misremembering.
Wow - I thought I was the only one that ever read Nemesis! Pretty cool. I used to love that (and Judge Dredd, too), but I don't recall ever reading about the ABC bots.

Yul Brynner in Westworld
Data on Star Trek
Crow and Tom Servo from MST 3K!!!!
BTW, I think this is too large an undertaking!!

Yom, that is just plain old awesome! Thank you! Gog and Magog. Target Earth. The day the Earth Stood Still. I remember seeing those (among others) on late night black and white TV when I was a kid back in the early 1960's.
And I actually have a copy of Gene Autry and The Phantom Empire on DVD. Got it for 97 cents at Wal Mart. Picture 1930's singing cowboy science fiction. Space helmets and horseback chases. Underground empire with sexy evil queen. And the secret of the new scientific invention of the future: TELEVISION! Not to mention the cowboy robots!
Odd- when I first looked at this post I had a vague memory of seeing an old B movie called Gog and Magog, but I wasn't quite sure. Today you post the pic. Odd. (maybe it's the end of the world as we know it blues, or something)
I'm glad that most of you are happy with this thread ;D
I know i could have added the giant robots like mechagodzilla... but, to me it's another movie genre (which i also appreciate )
Thanks for your links kingboyd ;D
What is MST 3K ? A scifi TV show ? The picture above remind me a kind of Muppet's Show..
In Westworld, i would classified Yul Brynner as an androïd, like Data from startrek.
;D

I just taped this (Metropolis) off of TCM (Turner Classic Movies) about 2 months ago. I saw it many, many years ago and don't remember much. I've been meaning to rewatch it again. TCM plays a ton of great classic stuff, and they have no commercials. An amazing channel, really. I've been taping a lot of the old Sci Fi stuff, and Vincent Price stuff too, that they've been showing lately.

MST 3K (otherwise known as Mystery Science Theater 3000) was a TV show that was shown here in the US several years ago. A movie was also released. Basically, they play old, laughable movies and spoof them. You see the character's shadows in theater seats at the bottom of the screen, and they talk over the movies. Pretty damn funny.

I never saw Gog and Magog, but that robot looks kool - I'll have to keep an eye out for it. But unfortunately, I have to admit that I did see Flesh Gordan!!
You can also add the robots from Message From Space (the movie and series).

KingboyD: I remember seeing Flesh Gordon at the the Wilshire theatre back in the 70's. The Wilshire was a trip. Two dollars would get you in. They showed the old, the obscure, the foreign, the cheap, and the weird, and the show changed every three days. Better yet, they let you bring in beer, or wine, or even your own pizza. If you were discreet you could get away with a little smokin'. I was bombed by the time Flesh Gordon came on, and I thought it was like the coolest, campiest film of all time. I rented it a couple of years ago. It blows chunks.
There is a 80s robot movie I can barely remember from when I was a kid. There was a group of robots, and I think they were trying to escape. 1 had tanks tracks. ! might had been a butler of some sort. I would like to watch it again, must have been almost 17-20 years ago
