I know the toy was never released for orbots. and I remember finding a low res orbot protoype pics. But I stumpled onto a website that had some cool clear hi res. Anyone unfamiliar with the orbots.. its basically godmarz

Nice find Kid! If GX-41 is Godmarz I wonder what the chances of us getting GX-42 The Mighty Orbots!?! I think maybe .000001 out of a million ;D

The best part of Orbots was the opening theme... *sigh* This would've been so cool (and possibly led to the usual confusion a-la Jetfire/Macross, Voltron, Battletech...

I didn't even know about this show until recently. Thanks for the pics Kidchuckle. That's a weird robot. It could have used some more detailing or a little different color scheme I think. Was that what the final product was going to look like?

Was that what the final product was going to look like? Well it was the earlier US and Japanese joint effort in a tv show. A modified Godmarz to fit the us version of Orbots. Although they really don't look too much like the shows characters. But as far as detail and colour they do fit the show. I guess thats what the final product would look like. I've only seen fakes... but I've never seen a liscenced orbot toy. I'm not sure why it wasn't released, having a toy to back up the show would have helped it thrive better. (like Voltron, transformers and Gi Joe etc)

Well, we're talking about it now some 20 years down the line, but that raises some new questions like, "why did they even bother?" Why not make one show (Godmarz) and just dub it into 2 languages? My unanswered question: I think Bort was the only one of the Orbots that transformed into something (he was a jetfighter)... but soon after launching from his hiding place, he'd turn into his humanoid form... which could also fly and do lots more than a jet fighter could do! So why could he transform?? There was one good thing about the Orbots version that I vividly recall tho... Bo and Boo were hot in their humanoid forms.

i wish those idiots didn't sue MOs, that cartoon was so hot, it would have been out for many years. i hate that there are only 13 eps ever made, and only 1 is available on Youtube. sigh

I would so love to get ahold of that prototype. Wonder what ever happened to it?
Bort's gimmick was that he could transform into any type of machine, not just the plane. The airplane mode was just how he was stored in his recharge chamber in the aztek pyramid.

is there a MegaUpload group of links for the episodes of this show? i can only find Wish World on Youtube and Veoh. You can buy the entire series on region-1 DVD from this guy for about $10 U.S. A while back, I was searching for the series Starzinger (a.k.a. Spaceketeers) on DVD, and found a site called Or Best Offer.com. It's kind of an ebay knock-off. I purchased the entire English version Spaceketeers DVD set from this guy, and i was pretty happy with the purchase.
