Well, I finally received my BanDai Diecast MechaGodzilla and I am pretty happy. I really like this design...my favorite is still the first....but I do like this. The box/cover art is VERY nice with heavy gloss, and nice photos. The first thing that I noticed that was different when opening it...is that the MechaG is packaged in a form fit cardbord rather than styrofoam. Oh well....he is unscathed in this new BanDai packing.
OK...now to the good stuff. Mecha Godzilla stands about 7.5 inches tall and weighs about 14 oz (just shy of a pound). The foot, legs, and torso are diecast. It feels like the arms are plastic (a bit hard to tell). The hands, toes, and spines are PVC and the tail, head and neck are plastic. The weapons are mostly plastic with some minor pvc.
He is ok on articulation...limited articulation at the ankles, knees, hips, shoulders, neck, head, mouth, and tail ......and full articulation at the elbows and wrists. The knees have a nice solid feel as they "Click" into the position you want. The Tail is articulated at 4 points...but you cannot move it very far. The 3 chest doors (also diecast) open nicely to expose the chest cannon (G-Breaker?). The attention to detail is amazing, with all the panels that you would expect to see on a Gundam kit...very nice. The paint is wonderful with very tight, crisp lines...it will definately look good on your shelf. I was quite impressed with the forearm weapons...as they each have two guns, a removable sword/knife/blade and a cool little wire that connects the weapon into the elbow of MechaG.
Overall, I give this toy a thumbs up...if you have $60.00 burning a hole in your pocket...this is not a bad way to spend it.
