My latest aquisition from eBay is a yellow beetle, plastic with diecast front. I thought it was a gobot, but none of the sites I have seen list it as one. It has no head, instead the top part of the body (the bit with the windows, windscreen etc) swings up and forms a kind of cockpit, with the car's driver looking like a mech pilot.
Stamped on the underside of the body is the following:
BANDAI 1983 SINGAPORE (c) G. K
[some stylised japanese script, which my brother who is learning Japanese tells me says something like Ashinrodo DX)]
Then underneath that: VOLKSWAGEN 1303S BEETLE
Anyone got any info on my purchase?
I have no picture at present, but I will take one this evening and put it up if I can get my camera working.
EDIT: I just realised, Ashinrodo DX = Machine Robo DX!
I feel silly now..

I think that would be the Supergobot BugBite. He's made by Popy/ Tonka.
Yep, he's a supergobot from the early 80's
Welcome to the BBS!!

I'm watching one of these on eBay at the moment. MIB and in the UK too. Not owned a Gobot since I was a little kid. Back then they were always considered the poor kids Transformers... Now they seem kind of cool.

funny comments about the Gobots perception. I think their anime and marketing sucked. The toys on their own though were pretty novel. They never had the soul of Transformers...

I don't think we even saw the Gobots anime in the UK, don't remember it anyway. All I can remember of gobots from back then is that where Transformers were these cool, big robots with neat weapons and stuff, Gobots were these tiny, weedy things... Unfortunately all of mine went the way of the garage sale, along with my transformers. All to feed my teenage video gaming habit.

Bug bite eh? That sounds about right. We DID have GoBots telly series in the UK - It was on Wide Awake club with Timmy Mallet.. "GoBots go BOTTY!" as he said..

We did? Can't have been memorable... I'd have watched it if it was on Wide Awake Club. "Gobots go botty", phrases like that remind me why I don't miss Timmy Mallet at all. CrixMakin, I take it you're ahother member in the UK then?

Indeed I am. And the Gobots series was PANTS.
Big sweaty man pants.
Big sweaty beige Y-fronted old man pants.
