I've been trying to make a GaoGaiGar wallpaper to put up over at Animepaper.net but they apparently have very, very high standards. It would be the first GGG wallpaper they have over there if it ever gets accepted. I've worked for a number of weeks on it, actually redrawing some bits of it and adding colored lighting effects here and there. I'd like the fans' opinion on it if I could. img80.imageshack.us/img80/9038/gggwall2uq4.jpgMy name there is OzzieAstaroth. Trust me, its me. ;D

My opinion, its good. But Mamoru seems warped. I like Gai in the background too. My only complaint is Mamoru.

Nice! Way to go Triggerexe! Guy looks good in the background Though I gotta agree with Roanstalker, Mamoru doesn't seem to fit somehow, being that close to the sharp image of GGG up front, but a good try Gold

I know! But they kept telling me that Mamoru looked too blurry or that the images needed cleaning... So I took his image and completly recolored it by hand and added a glow effect. They STILL think it looks blurry. :-\ Everytime you submit a wallpaper and it gets rejected over there, they take away 100 "papers" or points so its very frustrating. I think they've probably either got something against GGG or they just can't see past their own "greatness." I knew the fans would appreciate it more. ^_^ Thanks!
Basically Mamoru is there to cover the line between the two background images. I wanted him there, but couldn't find a better image of him than that. It was taken from a screen shot. I had to cut him out, then separate him from his wings and make the wings transparent while keeping him opaque. It was very time consuming. If anyone has a clearer image or a better idea of how to use Mamoru in the pic, I'm open to suggestions. ^_^

I like it too. They kept telling me that it was too angular... Giant robos tend to be angular! *sigh* I'm using PS6 to make this and I'm bad at making backgrounds. The background for this one is a rainy window with a wind blur applied to it. They said you guys were biased, but isn't everybody? What difference does it make what anime it is? If the fans like it, they'll get it and use it right? Their standards are way too high. Meanwhile they have these images that are basically huge Photoshop gimicks with a single anime character slapped onto it and that seems to pass. Feh.

Yay! ^_^ I'm glad you like it so much. Yes, I think they are a-holes too. Well, some of them. I let them know my thoughts on their strict rules and elitist ways. Not that it'll change their minds, but oh well. In the meantime, I've made changes to my wallpaper to see if it will meet their standards. Take a look at the newest version of my GGG wallpaper: img511.imageshack.us/img511/6585/gggwallp2dx9.jpgIts a lot different, but has some of the same elements. Do you guys think this one is better, worse, or just as good as my original try?

Okay, can I reply to myself here? Lets find out. ^_^ I don't know if trying to submit a wallpaper to Animepaper is more trouble than it's worth, but it has helped me improve my skills. I think I'm ready to stop though. I mean, if this latest version of the wallpaper doesn't go through, then oh well. I think its extremely cool though. I want you guys to check it out though: img168.imageshack.us/img168/3326/gggwall2cod9.jpgWhat do you think?

I think your main problem is that the source of lighting for the pictures your using are totally different. The Gaogaigar pictures your using have a very definite light source/shadow effect while Mamoru does not which makes it stand out that your using different photo references. What you can do is find a clean picture of Gaogaigar and then "paint" shadows using the green colour from Mamoru since he will be the major light sotrce in the picture. It will tighten up you composition better ot you could find a Mamoru picture where he's not in his "powered up" form.

Yeah, I can see that, but the thing is if I try to apply a green light effect to GGG, it makes him look dull and unappealing. I just wish there was a way to make the "Lens Flare" filter a different color. I can't find any decent pics of Mamoru unpowered. Here's my latest try: img183.imageshack.us/img183/2361/gggwall2d1pa2.jpgMy room mate tells me I've already put too much effort into this project. lol I'm inclined to agree with him. I've made so many changes and different versions now. Maybe I should just leave it be. If they don't like it, I guess at least you guys will have it.

Hey, do it because you like it and because it's fun. People have hobbies for a reason. Yeah, I spend most of my time and efforts (not to mention monetary resources) on toys but I like it. Keep up the good work!

I personally like it! The vivid colors and cellshades look very anime-like... great eye, there, Bro! I Luv that energy flame (or whatever it is) rising off his head, all charged up ready to kick Q-Part azz! Hey, if that one website doesn't like it then it's Their loss- not Yours. What's one website, when so many Other websites out there would luv to add your artwork to their galleries and wallpaper collections, right? Riiiiiiiight! *^__^* I dig it, and so do many other folks here. Lesson#1: If you're doing artwork to Impress people... ...it's gonna show. If you Just Do It, the outcome will impress Many people. Let the learning experience take you to a higher level. After all, it will make you a better artist every time. And, your perseverence (such as you've shown Here) means you are Dedicated to what you enjoy doing. That's one of the best tools any artist can have in their arsenal. Keep up the good work. (PS: I'm growing to like the GaoGaiGar even more!) zozo-Magengar Yeah, I can see that, but the thing is if I try to apply a green light effect to GGG, it makes him look dull and unappealing.
