Does anyone collect the Gundam Fix series? How tall are they in inches? Is the plastic a good grade? Any problems? What's so special about them?
I considered the one that is supposed to be released in May. I think it is the 0025 or something? It looks like it transforms. And I want to get the Wing Gundam version. Anyone have that one?

I absolutely love the Gundam Fix line of figures. Of course, I was always a big fan of the art book by Katoki. The detail on each figure is of a much higher standard than any Msia. However, the plastic is the same, which is probably the biggest drawback. The price is very high for each figure as well, probably due to the awesome packaging, which makes it hard to decide whether or not to just leave these figures unopened.
The Wing FIX #6 is a great representation of this Gundam with all of the Ka highlights and detail - I don't think that you would be disappointed. The Ex-S is my personal favorite, though. ;D

I disike them. IMO
I simply can't get over the material and price combo it has to offer. If I see a deep striker for about $50 I'd pick it up anything more is just too much for a toy made of probably the cheapest type of plastic PVC available on the planet IMO

Yo LurkerX, I picked up a Deep Striker and the plastic really isn't as bad...
The thing you have to bear in mind about the FIX line is that it's for people that like models, really. You can't pose'em much, and you can't really do much other then build'em and display'em. I really do like some of them (for instance, the armored gundam and Deep Striker) but some are definitely not the best...

I'm not a fan of them either. First off, the packaging looks nice but is incredibly annoying with so many layers and twist ties. Unless you just want to display them in the box, this is a pain. Next, they look nice for display purposes but are not that playable as toys (as opposed to MSiA, DX, MMM, Arch Enemy). The paint jobs vary from passable to decent. The earlier ones had so-so paint jobs. Then there's the awful plastic. These so-called collectible figures are made of relatively soft PVC that looks stiffer I think because of the paint. This makes them ultimately a disappointment in my opinion. I stopped buying them.

They're supposed to be 1/144 scale right? So are they really of a comparable scale to the Kado/Kahen Senshi figures?
I know these scales are fubarred from time to time, but will these two different kind of toys "look right" displayed together?

No. The KS stuff is slightly oversized for 1/144, and fixes are slightly undersized. The gap is too big. But to tell the truth they'd really look wrong together even if the scale was dead on.

Really? Damn. Now I don't know which line I want more. Was hoping to fill out a KS collection with FIX figures, since KS is pretty much dead. Maybe I shouldn't have given up on MSIA's.

If you liked the Kido/Kahen Senshi figures, you might really enjoy the MMM series. These however are more expensive and are larger (approx. 1/100 scale). The latest ones from the Gundam Seed Destiny series are far superior to MSiA's and Fix in my opinion. The other drawback so far of course is selection--just Gundam Seed figures at this point.

I know. I'm really curious as to where this line is going. Hope they do an occasional UC mobile suit or older AU mobile suit to break the Seed/Destiny monotony.

How do GFF figures compare to Gundam HCM's? They're supposed to be the same scale, right? Do they look good displayed together?

I think the original HCM's (from the 80's) are around 1/144 scale. The new HCM Pro's are more like 1/200 scale but feature more details and articulation (as well as gimmicks) despite the tiny size. All the HCM's are constructed of hard ABS plastic--like Gunpla models.

I think gundam models are actually mostly polystyrene, with only some of the parts that really need to be more sturdy made out of ABS.

Fugly dude, so you actually sprung for the FIX 0013??? I just don't know, quite recently I bought the max factor guyver III and zoalord over the deep strike I just can't, get myself to get it I was looking at it in the store while deciding what to get the paint isn't all that great there are "inconsistencies "thinly" painted areas as well as over sprays its $200CAN where I'm at if it was like the elmeth, or the deboronium, gallop or byg zam etc. I would be soooo there but the material Its like buying a typical MSIA with more accessories and a jacked up, on steroids price IMO Actually its material is more gashapon than model but that's just me Hope you enjoy your purchase maybe someday I'll grab one.

My unsolicited 2 cents? Grab a Deep Striker only when the price is right. I found one MISB for HK$469 in Hong Kong. That's just US$60-70. Otherwise, it may not be worth it.
