Just wondering whether it's any good? I dont want to buy from the internet cause the prices shoot up because of p&p so I normally buy from the local shops. Only when its something I REALLY want would I buy it online (Masterpiece Great Exkaiser, CM's Great Raijinoh). Recently I saw a MG zeta made in 1996. If I recall 1996 was when Gundam Wing/Gundam X was made and the materials they used back then was quite bad compared to todays standards. I also accidentally bought a MG Gundam made in 1995 and was soerly disappointed (crappy head, loose joints etc.) Is the Zeta any better? I'm wondering more about the look than loose joints since that can be fixed.

Old Zeta has real issues with stability, both in MS and waverider form. The engineering of TMS at that time was still experimental, and there aint much internals to speak of (espcially the legs, which can be visibly hollow if looked at some angles. Lookwise it is of katoki design which is closer to PG zeta and in general chunkier and slightly shorter than Z2.0. It's really for fans of zeta only. There are better alternatives (Zplus A/C, Z2.0).
The problem with old kits is not really because they are made in 199x, but due to deteriatating injection moulds. If you see them now they are more than likely not made in 199x but a rerun some years later. Which is why the OYW series are in general better quality than old kits even if they use pretty much the same design.

Its just the fact that when I think about models made back then I always remembered the quality was absolutely crap. For a MG, the gundam was horrible. I wish I knew there was a 1.5 and OYW version of gundam before I bought it.

The MG Zeta (1996) has better poseability and details compare to the Gundam X series. After all, you are comparing an MG with HGs that were released at around the same time.
The Zeta was one of the best designed (and the most complex) Gunpla when it was released. However, that was 10 years ago. When I got the original MG Gundam and Zeta back when they were released, I was truly amazed at how excellent and high class such plastic kits they were. 10 years later? When I look at the same kits, I'm amazed that they are so crap when they are compare with even the non-graded 1/100 Seed Destiny kits.
Compare to MG Gundam (1995), the MG Zeta is not as stable due to its transformable design and larger rifle. If you don't like the original MG Gundam, the chance is that you won't be happy with the original MG Zeta.
As for looks, I guessed it's personal preferance on whether you like the curvy, Katoki design compared to the sharpy, original TV design found in the MG 2.0 Zeta kit.

buying model kits online is normally cheaper than getting them from local store, where are you located?

Colchester, UK. Actually they are around the same price. Though I got some Gundam Fix Figuration figures for slightly cheaper than I saw online.
I bought the Zeta because it was zeta (I love this mech) and its actually not bad. Much better than the RX78-2 model. But why is the white kind of greenish? It was like this with the 1/144 transformable ZZ Gundam that I bought from a shop in london.
