Just adding my two cents. I think as long as there is a market where we get Transformer and Pacific Rim movies and they do well in the theatre then these pieces will grow in value. With so many potential super robot movies in the works this is a good sign of the collector market in the near future.
I really just started picking up Godaikins about two years ago and they really are still quite affordable. Not counting of course Voltes, Combattra, Daimos, Golion, or Tetsujin. Just recently a brand new Dynaman sold on ebay for $400 and you can pick up most of the other large ones for around the same. The problem with Ebay is there are so many people who have really sub par pieces for insane prices. I do not understand the thought process there. Also I go to quite a few toy shows in my area and the lines are long and it seems there is always a desire for vintage Gokin, even by the younger generation.
My collection will go to my daughter eventually and she will either make a bunch of money selling them or she will curse me for hoarding useless junk!

Hello All just wanted to share with you a few auctions I just put up on Ebay. I have a couple of Daidenjin's up for auction and a small Bio Man. Finally got both versions in brand new case fresh boxes that have never been opened so time to let these guys go. Thanks for looking! Will also be listing some GI Joe toys from my youth for anyone that may be in to collecting Gi Joe. www.ebay.com/usr/dooquie

Finally decided to remove my Godsigma to see if there was any damage. There was a bit of styrofoam stuck to the legs but it cleaned off very easily. So cleaned him off and back in his coffin he went! Other than the styrofoam being stuck there was no other damage which I was glad about! Funny you mention God Sigma. I cannot remove either of the Ocean King or Earth King from the styrofoam because the are so locked in. You think I should attempt to get them out to check for any discoloration? Hi, hard for me to decide that but it sounds like you have similar issue... mine were sitting in the box for a long time and its a very tight fit... probably some of the styrofoam will be stuck to them. Let me know if you decide to take them out...

I still love all my EVAs as well. I know they can be fiddly but they are so unique. Still the most disappointed in GX-41 Reideen. Could not wait for this to come out as he was one of my favorite toys as a kid. Finally comes out and it should really not be called a SOC with how little die cast there is in it. Also nothing stays on, so fiddly. I kept it out of love for the character only. I know I'm gonna be bashed over this but I like my SOC Eva they were great when I bought them and still love them. Also recently I had experience my first revoltech, the Eva evolution Mark .06, I though I could fill the void of movie evas with those (they almost scale with soc ones and they were being re edited). I was wrong. I photos it looked awesome for 35us but in hand I couldn't pass it. Paint was messy, articulation was good but it looked as it was going to break. The paint got in my fingers. I cancelled all the other ones I had on PO and still trying to sell it (here in Argentina it's very hard to sell those stuff) But my most disappointing figure must be legacy megazord, I bought it after owning thunder megazord, dragonzord and tigerzord. Being the first one in the line there was a lot of difference in the quality of the product (and metal seems forced into it and not helping the figure in any way. That was because it was a re release of 2010 megazord with metal). You couldn't even combine it with dragonzord because its knees would bend and half body would fall due to the weight of the dragonzord. I kept it until I got my soc megazord and month later I finally was able to sell it

Your son has a better collection than me! That is awesome that you have taught him to appreciate these toys. My daughter has the Bandai Chogokin Hello Kitty figures, My Melody, Mickey Robo, and a few G1 transformers that we find here and there at yard sales. We also make trips to all the local toy shows which is always a good time. Checked out your community page as well, very cool! Read more: robotjapan.proboards.com/thread/24676/latest-godaikin-additions?page=3#ixzz55Jb6k7EHThat's what it's all about. Sharing these wonderful "toys" with the children we love makes this hobby great. My son definitely appreciates these robots. In fact, he's got a nice collection of his own. He has a: Dynaman DyJupiter Gardian Matchbox Voltron (from my childhood) Vehicle Voltron Blazing Sword Voltron Matty Voltron (now displayed because $$$) Legacy Megazord Legacy Dragonzord Legacy Titanus SOC Daltanious 3 cases of G1 Transformers from my youth I bought the vintage gokins used so he can play with them. At age 8 he's an astute lifelong collector. He helps me out on social media, too. Last year we started a G+ Community. It adds a whole new element to our hobby. Funny you mention God Sigma. I cannot remove either of the Ocean King or Earth King from the styrofoam because the are so locked in. You think I should attempt to get them out to check for any discoloration? Hi, yes, the "melted" styrofoam peeled off the rubber tail of my Bullmark bullpet without any damage -- I was happy about that! The styrofoam on paint might be a different reaction but in 2 cases its from long storage/tight fit on the legs of DX God Sigma and a DX Big Dai X... left white marks not really melted styrofoam. Its probably best to attempt a physical removal of it than a using a solvent... but I was thinking maybe rubbing alcohol might be weak enough to not damage the paint. Have you ever cleaned any popy painted items with it?

Thank you for not making me feel like one! Your tradition sounds super fun. I am sure your son is going to have a great appreciation for these toys which are really pieces of art. I have a 9 year old daughter and I always tease her that I am going to sell them and she pleads with me that I CAN'T sell them! I am a weirdo, these will never be assembled. I would love to take them out and play with them but I cringe at the thought of damaging anything. Just enjoy looking at them in the box. After I got Sun Vulcan I broke out all of them and stoked I am getting close to having all the ones I want. You're not a weirdo. Everyone is different. I like to buy them new or as close to mint as possible. Then, my 8 year old son and I unbox them (usually leaving the clamshells stapled). It's always an event. We form the robot one time. Then, we display them like statues on the mantle. When I handle them after the unboxing, it's with a microfiber dusting cloth. I like to keep them glistening!

Same here. I would see them all the time at my local Mervyn's and another store in our local mall called Comix and Comix. Would just drool over them but they were too expensive at the time for us. Godaikins are so beautiful. They were among my first memories of transforming robots even before the mainstream robot blitz of 1984.

Mine broke on the 1st attempt at forming the Bull Vulcan.

Could not agree more. The vintage pieces I have attained over the last few years are by far my favorites. Would love to get Sun Vulcan but he does not seem to pop up very often. I had won an auction (Can't remember the name of the auction site, not eBay) for all three Voltron II figures brand new. But the auction proprietor was a bit off his rocker and was taking a very long time to ship. When I asked politely when he was going to ship he flipped out on me and sent me like a four page e-mail going off on me. Said if I didn't want the pieces he didn't care. So I passed. Looking back wished I would have just struggled through and purchased them. But I agree also that I look at all my Godaikins as art. I have been collecting Machine Robos as well recently and view them in the same way. Each one has such amazing artwork on the outside of the box and the packaging is amazing for such small pieces. My vintage gokins are probably my favorites. I've got Laserion, Gardian, Sun Vulcan, 2 GoLions, God Sigma, Goggle V, Dynaman w/Daijupiter, POPY GodMarz, The Abega, and two Voltrons I,II & III. There's just something magical about them. I get them in new condition, form the robot, and display them on my mantle. Contemporary gokins are awesome because you can handle them without messing anything up. But I view my GoiDaiKins as works of art.

Thank you for the compliment on the collection! I just recently saw there is an additional set that can accompany Laserion and it does look amazing. Am on the hunt for that now! As for Goggle V he is a great piece. Smaller than what I was expecting but this is another Godaikin that I had seen as a kid in the 80s at a local Mervyn's that I always lusted for. So had always been on the hunt for a good example. I would have preferred the other box but for the price I got this one for I could not argue and this is a brand new piece. There is a fair amount of die cast in him and I love the colors and chrome. After getting him I was surprised at how he assembles. Didn't realize the jet just sticks to the tank. Overall I do recommend him. Your collection by the way is amazing. I watch a lot of your auctions on eBay as well. Almost jumped in on your Battle Fever / Shark as that is one set I would love to have. But had just purchased another toy and didn't want to go broke just before Christmas! You have a very nice collection BTW -- everything is in excellent shape! I was wondering about Goggle V -- I don't have it and for some reason its never really appealed to me... how do you like it compared to the others?

All of these Godaikin that would have been a pass for me when I was younger I am absolutely loving as an adult! Laserion is a beast! Never realized he had so much die cast content. NICE! I love Laserion. It's so unique- there's nothing else like it.

A few of the last ones are from EBay but the bulk are from a friend I met not long ago at the San Jose toy show who owned multiple stores in the 80s and was one of the first importers of many of these toys. So I have been massively spoiled as every piece I have bought from him is case fresh new old stock. Really does not get any better! Makes it hard buying pieces from EBay though as I now always expect the same quality! Daileon is pretty rare. I haven't seen one on eBay in at least a year. But it wasn't super expensive. It was in really nice shape and came boxed for around $200. I'm sure you'll find one. Btw, where have you been getting these? They really are exceptional.

No time to slow down a bit! I just purchased a ton of brand new Machine Robos as well. Still on the hunt for a good Godaikin Golion and looking for the oddball Daileon. New Family members Goggle V and Dynaman WOW! You're on a roll! You'll have them all before you know it.

The Popy versions have beautiful boxes. I am jealous! He is a tank, I was quite surprised when I took a look at him after getting him. Have an ST Dynaman Godaikin coming tomorrow and the following weekend picking up a brand new never opened Goggle V. After that will be on the hunt for a Golion. NICE SCORE! I have the Popy GODMARZ, and I think it's my heaviest gokin. The thing is a TANK! Congrats!
