so it would include the name plate for both golion (in japanese) and voltron (in english) no matter where we order it from (BBTS or Japan shops)?
the mid section to me is also too thick, but pretty fantastic overall. Looks like no leg-hiding gimmick.
I wonder if they will include the stickers to number the lions!?

Are we seriously criticizing the toy even before its announcement and actual reveal?

Let me preface this by saying I hadn't starting drinking for the long weekend yet before I made my initial comment but... It wasn't until someone mentioned Ostrich and Elintseeker that I thought "Wait a minute, did they make an Ostrich and Elintseeker"? At first I was thinking the post was about the 1/55 Robotech Masterpiece Collection line. Now this may not make a difference to some of you, and that's fine, but that line was, in my opinion, garbage. I think it was because I was looking at the for sale section before coming to this thread, saw the Voltron in the similar book style case that the Masterpiece line came in, and had that stuck in my head. Lol if you are talking about the toynami masterpiece Valkyries then garbage would be the appropriate word!! As you can see calling the chunky monkey 1/55 bandai/takatoku valks garbage would have quite a few people upset! I'm glad we cleared that up.

I'm so glad to hear about love for 1/55 chunky monkey! There is a reason they go for high dollar in the used market still.

To be honest, the KOB to me is not voltron, it's just a robot with features that resemble voltron. It doesn't speak voltron when I look at it, and I couldn't even pretend it's voltron when I tried convincing myself to get it (and failed) just so I have a decent diecast voltron on my shelf. This one picture from bandai screams voltron at me. My point being, to me it's not so much about anime accuracy, but more so about the essence of voltron, whatever that may be. The KOB is stylized to a point that to me the essence of voltron is gone.
True I don't own KOB, but have handled one in person. While nice I thought in terms of mold crispness and paint application it is not really near SOC level. It's just relatively well made for a relatively unknown company's first attempt. Give them props for making a quality product, but its quality isn't quite high enough to really hang with the big boys.
Above are just my opinion.

I love my 1/60 v2s as well, and have most of them. It doesn't take away my fondness of the 1/55s though. Thanks Mr. Clean for articulating what I was trying to say.

The lower hind legs of the red and green lions are tucked inside the thighs.

its gonna have to be pretty damned impressive to be better than the kob. Actually not in my books, the KOB wasn't even anime accurate. Neither was any of toynami's offering. Since this is officially licensed, bandai can go all out in terms of accuracy. KOB was only good with articulation, which bandai with its experience should have no problem beating. I'm sure proportion wise it will be better too. We all know soc quality is second to none, so no competition there as well.

It's gotta be at least godmar or god sigma size. Daimos size is way too small for voltron. Bandai is not going to skimp on this one after waiting all these years to release this.

That's your opinion. The 1/55 has its charms and I'm hoping for a reissue! They are retro and durable and nostalgic!

Wow this is the best news I've heard in awhile! So glad I resisted toynami's multiple attempts and the KOB!

AE finally has the judo jacket in, but I already shipped my loot few weeks ago. It will be a long wait before my juohmaru gets to play dress up.
