Sounds great man! Quick question, does the portion of black lion's crotch that can swing down for more leg movement lock into place or is just on a tight hinge? It's on a very tight hinge and not going anywhere It does lock in the regular position for Voltron though.

Wonder if the original designer of Daizyujin also drew influence from this design of Voltron as well as the one we know? With the manes on the feet and M shape chest reminiscent of Mastodon it's very similar. Talking of which, Voltron has just made me 10 times more excited for GX-72!

Little confuse. In lion mode, do you have to pull out the necks, to show them? I keep seeing the green or red lion pics but don't see the necks. Sure do! Their elbow joint is awesome as well, this diecast bit extends to give you 90 degrees. The shoulder connectors are also diecast and solid as a rock. The tail can go into the black lion though the instructions warn it may come off inside when you remove the lion. It hasn't happened to me and it just says it'll fall out if you tilt the lion. Also thought this was cool from the instructions - has this Voltron concept sketch been seen before? It's new to me!

Yeap. One for combined and one for lions will still make a good display! Would it have killed Bandai to give me 2 sets of stickers so i could authentic-up my KoB? Oh one thing with that is, the sticker for yellow lion which sits on the curve isn't really staying stuck. Could have something to do with the sub-zero temperature i'm in at the moment though!

Got mine! Quick impressions - it's magnificent! The first thing that will hit you is the incredible heft. Everything seems right in person, proportions, colours, details, finish... the lot. I pulled my out first run KOB for a comparision and ... yeah the SoC has it beat in pretty much every area, although old KoB puts up a solid fight engineering and build quality wise. Aesthetically though, he really looks like a knock off now. Most striking is the difference in the faces, the proportion of eyes/nose/mouth and the colouring is just way cooler on the SoC. The chest emblem has got much higher detail and crispness because of it's size and design. The blue lion also stands out for being that brighter shade of blue and having the proper unique design (KoB is mostly a copy of yellow's mould). KoB has less hindrance from the groin design for posing at the hips, but his ratchets - although strong, limit posing compared to the SoC, which has a different joint design, so you can get more gradual leg separation. For instance, spreading the legs of both, KoB tends to do the splits in-between his ratchets, whereas SoC can hold better at more angles. Coupled with the better stability afforded by the feet tilts, he's much better balanced and looks more natural. And lifting him up from the splits, nothing moves at all. Still playing with it, but so far, the only minor quibble i have is that the box doesn't have the old style paper overlay on the foam. Very minor For when you get it, i'd advise a little extra caution when hiding black lion's front legs. There's a notch for your finger on the panel that opens up to hide them, but the actual joint is further down near the lion's knee joint so you're better off opening it from there. I'll post a few pics later tonight!

pure awesomeness more photos from the link above (gray background, official photos and the chrome is yellowish not like the earlier one but still visible) Yeah i have to admit, now you do have a point lol. Still, it almost looks both gold AND silver on the front leg of red. Some shots it even looks like dirty old chrome thanks to the reflections. It's got to be really tricky to photograph properly methinks. I just hope i like it in person, whatever colour it is!

Did all of those human figures come out previously? I only seem to remember red and green. Would be nice if they released some smaller ones a little closer to scale, same thing for Voltron too please! With pilot keys!

Keep in mind these things dont show up at everyday stores all across Japan... You'll have the most luck in somewhere like Yodobashi camera or hobby shops around akihabara or Dendentown! None of my local stores get them in, just a Joshin lets you place a reserve, but there's never any just sitting on shelves.

I think they'd put another one out if it was yellowing, don't you? It's much more likely the super bright bulbs (they're probably the warm coloured type too) making it look gold to you.

Looks like another weird angle/perspective shot to me... bigger version of the pic: And another... no neck is almost certainly due to the low angle. Lion ears are mis-transformed, maybe neck is too.:

I don't know half the suggestions people are listing here! Please post pics if your suggestion is lesser known! Mine are simple and easy ones for Bandai! 1) Dairugger XV/Vehicle Voltron. Seems more than possible now that Golion is coming. I actually still really like my Miracle Productions Vehicle Voltron, but there's no doubt room for improvement, and having them both with a consistent SoC finish would make my day! Miracle did half the work for them, they just need to polish it up! 2) Daizyujin/Dino Megazord. Given the popularity around the world, i'm surprised it hasn't happened already. I'll admit as a teen, my first impression was "Voltron rip off!" but over time I grew to love it's design as a wonderful homage to the classics. Upscale the SRC and make it transform is all they gotta do! 3) Danguard Ace. I know he's already out, i have one - and, I actually love the size as it is. But I went from someone who had never heard of it, to it becoming one of my favourite super robot designs thanks to it's clean simplicity. Even at the current size, the design just screams enormous robot. Just make it twice the size so i can buy it again! But please PLEASE let the sculptor who didSOC Danguard Ace,SOC Tryder and SRC God Sigma do the sculpt...the guy who did DX Great Mazinger and NOT, NOT the guy who did the SRC Daiziujin, SRC Grendizer or SRC Great Mazinger.... Are you certain it was a different designer? I like all the ones you've mentioned and wouldn't have thought they were done by different people!

It's a test shot, so he's pretty loosey-goosey! It looks to have less diecast that KoB actually. Seems the blue & yellow lions have some midsection joints which should be nice for posing though. It looks great... but looking at my KoB, i don't think the SoC is undermining it completely. Madtoys did such an exceptional job (especially for a nobody company). I'll be glad to have both in my collection.

A very brief video, but wow it looks good! That high gloss and metallic look plus the chrome is working perfectly together. Also looks like he has really good ankle movement that isn't hindered as much as KoB.
Does anything think there's a chance they'll do a pilots and keys add on set? I only had the Panosh Place set as a kid, so I have some attachment to those things!
