That pic mentions the 20th anniversary of SoC and how they've been planning some stuff to celebrate, Voltron being the first! Wonder what else they have in store.

While I'm not writing him off I'm going to take a seat back and watch. While the lions themselves look incredible Voltron just doesn't do it for me. Its just too slavish to the orginal Godakin toy. What I think we all wanted was the pic below. I think they've been slavish to both actually - that's the exact pose they're doing in the promo shots: Actually surprised myself how similar it is! I also had a look at the cartoon - heaps of screens here voltarchive.animation-web.com/ - and he does have the thicker, boxy waist in a lot of scenes as well. I'm really warming to it actually. This is the first time a Voltron toy has got the chest and wings correctly sized and aligned, to really show off that V shape. It looks very much like it'll fit in with the other combining SoC's aesthetically.

Tamashi have a page up with more pics now : tamashii.jp/special/golion/The old pics are slightly different too, or photoshopped some more... ie the one showing all accessories now has the Golion badge. Stage looks great with all the weapons, heaps of outward articulation on the lion legs, popup gun gimmicks on their backs, optional number stickers. Good stuff... but it's still a little phoned in IMO. Like, they haven't even bothered to hide away Voltron's red chest pieces that end up on the tops of the Black Lion's shoulders... little things yes, but I just expected a bit better.

Ooh i hadn't noticed that box shot before, it looks great! It's nice to see Takara Tomy applying their knowledge to something other from Transformers. I'm really looking forward to going through all the modes... especially with the lack of new Soul of Chogokin announcements recently, not much has been scratching that kind of itch for me.
Just hope the quality holds up ... i should have mine this Sunday, so will post some pics and impressions then!

What exactly are you worried about? Afaik, the only thing it can't do is the Iron Man-esque kneel-pose, which I think SRCs Megazord and Dekaranger can do easily. Just the quality concerns ... would be nice to know the weight in comparison too.

Doesn't seem to be any video reviews popping up for this guy. I'm a bit worried about some comments here (mine went to my inlaws in Japan so i have a little wait ahead of me). For those that have it, how would you say it compares to SRC Daizyujin/Megazord?

Indeed! Actually, after doing my display i looked up their 'actual' sizes and they're not that far off scale wise (60m vs 41m) .... SRC just needed to be an inch bigger maybe

Newly adjusted Super Robot display: Out of the box mine had no issues. After a bit of a play, both magnets in the face plates got sucked right off by the other magnet in the black lion's mouth! I super glued them back and it's all good now. Damn strong magnets! And secondly, my red head started to not lock in after firing. I was pretty concerned, but some fiddling with the spring and, well now it won't come out at all! Better in than out... stupid gimmick, would have much preferred wrist articulation. Negativity aside, this has got to be one of the nicest pieces in my collection. The joints are so solid, the paint immaculate (i love the deep glossy black), and the somewhat modernised design and proportions works incredibly well in person. He just looks great! The only changes i would have made apart from wrists, would have been for a slightly more vibrant green, and to include number decals - might have to make my own My Miracle VV is one of the first so has a few issues, but i love it and thought it was about as good as you could hope for - and no doubt the harder piece to engineer with 15 piece. In some regards it's still better, like the shoulder articulation. But overall, KOB shows that VV could have been even better. They go together great as is though, and my wallet is hurting enough, so here's hoping nothing better than either of them comes along in the near future!

I'm no sticker expert, but what's stopping you from using a tape measure to size things up? One for fabric that easily wraps around bends. I assume the stickers would be designed in something like Adobe Illustrator, where you can use the guides and such to replicate the contours (for most, at least)

Tony from Madtoys has posted an update to Facebook, asking for information from people who have paid for EMS Shipping:
Make sure you do it to avoid delays!

Here is my concern with the 20th of November release: That is only 10 days away, but we have seen the boxes of production pieces only a few days ago. My concern is possible QC issues because it may be rushed in order to please customers. MadToys was still acting on suggestion about paint and face sculpt a few days ago, so it truly worries me the release may be a little too soon. The main QC concern for me is the paint. If it is not 100% dry before the figure is handled, packed, and shipped, we may end up with fingerprints, sticky paint, or even paint rub-offs. Please MadToys, can you confirm everything is going as planned regarding the Quality Control of the figure? Thanks! }D They've got the message on their site "Customer who buy from official/authorized seller will get fully customer after service", so i don't think they'd rush, or else they'll have a truckload of complaints to deal with! Even though Mad Toys is seemingly a new company - it looks like they've done this kind of thing before. To even be able to get to this point is, dare i say it, a Miracle? So i'm not too worried.

I don't think the shoulders are too wide. Look at the comparison pic with God Sigma, Voltron is proportioned way better (all over). I will say i think the chest would have looked better if the red centrepiece extended to the edge (of the chest, not all the way onto the legs). That would probably lessen the impression of wide shoulders a bit as well. I'm looking at my Toynami (that has just been earmarked for sale) ... and they're surprisingly different overall. I guess Voltron has some varied appearances over the years. I think the only thing i prefer though - is the green lion's colour (more vibrant, better matches the tone of the others) and the painted tech details on top of blue lion's head. And maybe the printed lion numbers, might have to somehow sticker this new one up! Otherwise this new one is a clean sweep imo. Finally someone got Voltron out of his black nappies and into his black speedos! Posing this guy is going to be so much fun, an equal to Miracle's VV, whereas Toynami can barely spread it's legs. That's why my preorder's in!

Hey madtoystony - do you know what the EMS price would be to Australia? If it's not too much more, i wouldn't mind that option either. By the way, your site has Australia as "Austrial" - you might want to fix that or people could think it's Austria instead!
