S_Gokin God Mazinger for a lack of a better word is a terrible Show with the most boring cast & antagonist I've the displeasure to have seen (If you haven't watched it go give it shot it's subbed) So when any company skips him I can understand why (he has next to no following in general) companies might have a better luck making the SRW version from the Novels than him heck here's a few that honestly would be better alternatives
- MazinSaga
- USA Mazinger
- Zeta Mazinger (one of my personal favorite designs I know it got an HL Pro toy but that one flat out sucks)
- Govarion (this on the low end but at the very least it worth a look)
FYI this is God Mazinger from the SRW Novels & with it's Rival unit Devil Mazinger. It's basically an upgraded Mazinger Z (Same logic for it from SRW F Final minus using Getter Energy & this was before Mazinkaiser's debut)
the main issue here you think that i care about the show, did i care about watching GodSigma, GodMars, Dairugger XV, Getter Go ? no all i care about is the figures and the value of the playabilty in them , of course having a good show to back it up is nice but its not a key point for me, since some shows could be dead boring unlike the mecha design
it doesn't matter what you think is going to be better or what i think is going to be better, its all up to Bandai and what they think lol
last key point i think most of the collectors would grab God Mazinger if Bandai release it, Mainly to complete Nagai's collection + some find it cool actually
What’s the difference between this figure and the GX-73? I was going to get the 73 but this looks the same to me. Anyone know what the differences are if any? Thanks
yes, the main different is mainly in the limbs, as you see the legs and arms are a bit thicker, also the head have a complete new sculpt, to be honest with you it looks a bit better than the GX-73 but i hope they gives us decent accessories not the same cheap move with the GX-105
the Kakumei Shinka is an odd move to be honest since it literally destroyed the idea of the DC line i found my self buying the same robot over and over again its a trap that i cant break free from

7 days later its still wildly available didnt sell out didnt even enter the top selling items list at any online store and yet you will find people saying its a very popular release and have an overwhelming "iconic" status over Grendizer
tiny comparison the GX-76SP sold out in matter of seconds, a repaint of an old release not even a brand new release
money talks not feeling

Well I think even when there few people collecting robots (compared to other kind of figures), the few of us that collect robots are willing to spend a lot on them. Most item released are way more expensive than figuarts for example (a very very successful line nowadays). So there is money, and probably good profit in the robot business even when it's not a massive market.
i think there is alot of mecha collectors not just super robots but real robots as well, im sure we could include transformers into the market share as well
i dont have a huge knowledge on anime characters companies but from what i know the market share is divided between SH figure arts, Figma and Hot Toys (talking about figure that could be posed not statues) also from what i know some companies milking game is crazy, releasing a very basic character with very few accessories after some time boooom same charecter but with ton of stuff, happened alot with Detective Conan stuff
while we saw in the recent years a huge jump between new companies who are focusing on Getter's and Voltrons, even tho there is many good figures for those in the market with a decent price
I often wonder the same thing. When you visit online stores (i.e. Amiami) they have ranking? Most of the times, the top spots are for characters goods. Does anyone know how the ranking on Amiami works? (Is it by customer visit, by likes or purchases)? Merchandises need some media to push it (anime, movies, manga, etc.) Now that I think about it, a lot of mecha goods are being licensed to smaller companies to manufacture (i.e. Pose+, Evolution Toys, etc.) These companies are run by older folks who grew up on this stuff. I wonder if it not for non-Japanese buyers - the mecha toy genre would even be smaller.
very good point
when ever CCS release a figure you see that exact figure in the top spot ranking for preorders, at least during the first days beating anime characters
as for how the ranking works i honestly have no idea since it could be what you mentioned or it could be pay for the top spot
for your second point, i think many of us who watched this classic stuff, will make sure that their kids watch them as well, a good number of my friends watch most of Nagai's stuff along with romance trilogy with their kids, not only because they are good and fun to watch even as an adult but we also see values that we dont see in their modern stuff, also the new stuff doesn't do good for the younger generation its full of nonsense

A Grendizer they have the unit is mostly what I'm referring to in general (whether it's him with or without the Addons / Support Unit) but anyway here's my response to you regarding him
- Grendizer has the same issues that Plague the Getter Robo since they switched to Armageddon (heck even before) nobody likes an Incomplete Set.
- I'm well aware how many companies outside of Bandai made ones (those were also incomplete products see the response above) you got a few exceptions (Like the EX-Gokin, KingArts & Riobot Versions) but point still stands regarding how most tackle this unit.
- Also when have I said no value I simply stated that Bandai has no incentive to release one as of right now (that might change once the new version shows up to incentivize people to buy once they bother making one).
- The Special version that got announced now follows Bandai Release pattern as of late with the Mazinger units so a 3.0 Grendizer will likely show up Either in 2025 or 2026.
- Most Toy collectors love to have those 3 together (Thanks to the old Mangas & SRW in general) which once again boils down to people want a complete set .
- God Mazinger for a lack of a Better word is likely never gonna happen with Bandai if they don't stick a Code on it & if I recall he was suppose to be under the DC sub line if you want a God Mazinger you got 1 of 2 options either get the KingArts one or wait for the Moderoid version.
This mostly is how I see this Robot & how these toy companies tackling him in general (FYI the Infintisim version was like the worst one I've seen in a good while should've given it the regular spazer at the very least ) At this point I'll wait to see if CCSToys are going to make one since they seem to love the Mazinger Family so much (Still waiting on a Regular Z & Great Mazinger from them). - true but thinking about it, its not an easy task to make all the Spazers, but for me even if its just Grendizer alone i will take it
- i think most will see it as Grendizer and his Spazer + the double Spazer and call it a day, its like the case of Getter 2 and Getter 3, Marine and Drill Spazers, they get ignored sometimes
- right now we are getting an overwhelming amount of Shin Getter 1 and Voltrons yet people buy those, the DX for most of us is a high priority so im sure whenever they release it, it will be met with a server crushing demand regardless of the number of the releases before
-like i explained above, Grendizer is a headache to make if they are going to do the Spazers, im sure no one want that headache since it will cost both time and money even for Bandai
-not necessary, its not because they just want to complete the trio its most likely Grendizer is handsome robot and have a great value as a figure, i have the King art Grendizer + his Spazer and im not bothered with the Marine and Drill Spazers since i have alot of those
-why do you think God Mazinger will never happen ? last time we saw it was an event in 2021, key point Bandai's kept showing it through the years before that, so there is hope for it, its just a matter of time and when
-i would like an infinity version under the Metal Build line with or without the Spazers, i was very interested in the other infinity style robots as will but im not going to get them as model kits i need it to be in the Metal Build line especially Grendizer
-i hope so since they are focusing on Zero universe maybe they will do a Grendizer from that universe, not bad either way since i know for sure they will do an excellent work classic or zero
Yeah king arts god mazinger is great but I'm keeping the go nagai family in the SOC scale... Kakumei shinka versions look great but I wonder if they were really needed after the DC releases.
thats a great question i was wondering the same exact thing i thought the Kakumei Shinka was a one time thing for Mazinger but here we go now everyone would like to see his favorite robot in that style, main issue they didnt complete all of the DC robots yet they still jumped to another style lol

You're seeing new companies mainly making robots because you predominantly visit and browse websites that focus on such topics. Whenever you visit a nerd shop or larger online seller the majority of toys will be non-mecha.
not really, most sites sells everything these days even candies, same case physical stores
if collecting robots in general was a small parentage of the over all market then why we are been introduce to a new company that mainly do robots every now and then
as you know everyone want to make profit so why would anyone invest in a market with much fewer customers ?

One Grendizer in a people set doesn't really mean much he still once again doesn't have a Strong presence in Japan compared to his other Brothers from the same company
FYI I wouldn't try this people have a bunch of him in other countries I can kinda guess where you are from & I'm from that same place so Please let's not pretend people want more of him in Japan it is what it is at this point with the Character & the IP (They tried with Giga & nobody bothered in Japan, the same result will likely happen with Grendizer U)
if you want More Grendizer products you always can go with the DH Alloy , EX-Gokin, HL Pro & Riobot versions of him in general Bandai simply sees no value in making a DX version (they might try to make one down the line but they will mostly target what others want) That's my 2 cents on the matter in general.
no no i didnt say a Grendizer set per people i said a set per person (mostly the GX-04)
its no secret man im from Saudi Arabia, and no i think Grendizer have a decent fan base in Japan and a strong fan base all over the world, as you know Grendizer is a part of the Mazin Saga and he was in SRW not to mention the play value of the figure
key point as you know Japan do things for Japanese people right ? so how come they did multiple GX-04 ? they did it as a solo and as a set not to mention the Black Edition which very few robot got, also the SRC got many reissues and a first anime color version, GX-76 also, and lets not forget about about the HG infinity Grendizer all these releases and still not popular ? thats only Bandai i wont mention other companies
as for Giga no one loved it because Nagai's gave a very odd story but that reboot helped reviving the classic show, as for Grendizer U i wont judge on it until i see it
i dont agree with "no value of a DX Grendizer" if thats was true then there is no need for any Grendizer figure, as you see ET did a huge Grendizer which have a strong sale numbers and thats ET, i think they will wait for an anniversary or the new anime to drop so they can maximize sales + Grendizer is a headache to make with all the Spazers i understand
I don't think its a matter of popularity.. grendizer is well known and it sells (gx04s had many reissues), most brands do the trio or a grendizer (riobot for example never did great mazinger). To me it's maybe a matter of price. Grendizer need the spacers and spacers make it expensive, on the other hand people don't want an incomplete set. So it's a hard bargain. DX grendizer is suffering from that syndrome... but it will happen, our friend S_ here is a bit impatient just that hahaha. The next kakumei shinka should be grendizer. PD I've been expecting soc god mazinger since 2016... don't complain
for me i would wait for the Spazers if they go with the same strategy as the GX-76 (Grendizer , Spazer and double Spazer then Marine and Drill Spazers) no issue at alllllllllll, but i want those Spazer to be a worth product of the DX line something to knock off King Arts Spazer as the best Spazer ever made
yes im VERY impatient heheh, and yes i hope they will do Grendizer as Kakumei Shinka to complete the Kakumei Shinka trio even if they dont give it Spazers i just hope it will fit in the GX-76 Spazers
you know you reminded me what the heck happened to god mazinger ? every single robot from that show got released except for god mazinger

so they targeted a small percentage of collectors proven that they can afford doing silly projects that not alot of people are interested in while ignoring what the the percentage of collectors are asking for
If anything mecha Collectors a minority in the grand scheme of collectors, and to confirm you just need to check out thebtop selling figures on any websites, besides what toy pictures are shared on social media. This is targeting a much larger percentage of people who buy toys, people who normally don't buy mecha but find the idea of a rubicks cube that can also turn into a mecha charming.
i have to disagree with this, robots collectors are not a minority
if this point was right then why we see new companies are focusing mainly on super robots, i know anime characters like One Piece or Bleach are very popular but mainly they are easy and cheap to make therefore the have a strong market share but not like super robot which is more main stream
im a robot guy and i can tell you this release is a pass for me

If it's gonna follow the DC line logic likely will but probably next year or after if I were to guess (Since they announced the SP version just now).
S_Gokin Bandai doesn't hate him it's just he has no Strong market presence in Japan compared to other Dynamic Planning IP's in the long run (this mentality is Childish at best ) , they will likely see if Grendizer U attracts people on Japan before they decide to bother with making what already sells & attracts people from my perspective
hehehe keep dreaming we were asking them for a DX Grendizer since 2017
the main issue here man even tho some will say Grendizer is not popular in Japan or doesn't have a strong market yet i found many collectors in Japan that at least have 1 set of Grendizer figures (Grendizer + all the Spazers) while other overseas have many sets, even the new game sold well in the Japanese market

The design looks cool but I don’t know much about this super robot. I’ll have to try and find the anime and see if I can get into it before I pick this up. highly recommended the show is dead funny and have alot of epic moments also alot of cues and moments from other anime's
you will enjoy it no doubt
That it combines can be considered a gimmick, but Sentinel already did that better than them last year. The giant spinning drill is also a gimmick, though since you have to spin it yourself it's not as impressive as some motorized stuff we're seeing now, though with how big it is I don't know how feasible that would be without making it more expensive and/or noisy.
all this time for combination that was done better in other releases is consider a failure in my book
a giant spinning drill that GL cant hold or pose with, in matter of fact you need a stand in order to achieve 1 pose, is another failure and to make it worse, you must rotate it manually like a crank start engine from 1930
and you talking about been expensive the figure is around $230 for what ? it doesn't offer anything new or something we didnt see before, for me what i see is a bigger SRC version
and like other members pointed the paint is very boring especially the drills
overall i dont like this release i think it wasnt done properly keeping in mind the time they took and the effort they make, i also think it will be on sale later on

The people most interested in that are people who don't usually buy mechas. You're not the target audience for it.
so they targeted a small percentage of collectors
proven that they can afford doing silly projects that not alot of people are interested in while ignoring what the the percentage of collectors are asking for

the main issue here is they are stuck in the old ways
focusing on anime accuracy and calls it a day, what about articulation ? LED's ? cool gimmicks ?
nope

time to milk the GX-105 a damage version then SP version then SP version of the damage version lol
tho Great Mazinger looks indeed great
Ummm does this mean it will be a kakumei shinka grendize? 🤔
Bandai hates Grendizer but hey
they might release kakumei shinka as a full set with all the spazers
