Metal content wise, Between SOC and ET Metal Action would be nice… But Carbotix history says don’t get your hopes TOO high haha Otherwise I’d thUnk 5Prowould have proudly shown off bare naked material proto awhile ago…. please dont tell me they are going Sentinel on us "just enough" diecast to be able to say yes it have diecast or the ET route (magnetic joints) count as metal lol
since you mentioned it i really want to see how much diecast in it now
We already know its weight, about 2.3kg. That's a lot heavier than both DX Voltes (1.4kg) and DX Combattler (1.6kg) Hell, it's even heavier than larger Metal Structure Nu-Gundam (1.9kg) And when compared to the SOC Voltron, the weight increase will feel just adequate, because when our eyes see things, we see them in 2D image, so the 30% increase in height to SOC will give you an impression of about 60% size increase, which makes the 60% weight increase right on spot. im not sure if we should consider that weight as a positive point
i have the heavy metal T28 and its weight more than this around 2.5Kg and its a hassle to play with and to pose even before putting it in the display i need to be very careful so i dont pose it wrong or it will stress the whole lower body and thats a non combiner figure, for combiners it will be a least x2 the hassle i remember toynami diecast voltron was super annoying even to stand right the stress on the blue and yellow lions heads is huge and its not as heavy as those two
another point, with this weight it will be displayed alone or it will break the glass in the detolf
for me personally i dont think any high end figure should weight more than 2KG
Judging by the weight, we can be sure that, there'll be plenty of diecasts, that's all. I'm surprised that there's such thing as 'too much diecast' for you, because I thought that's the only things that you really cared BTW, you don't have to worry about it breaking the glass detolf, because unlike the SOC it comes with full scale display stand

The reason people are excited about this Voltron is not just because it's a Voltron, that's because this appears to be the definitive version of Voltron ever. Unless they really screw up on things like joints, this is going to be a huge hit. After all, the reason people are into this hobby is because they want the best iteration of their beloved character. i think voltron is one of those robots that people get excited about every new figure for it, look at the SMP, Titan power even the Lego voltron got his share of excitement, keep on mind these came after the GX71
since you mentioned screw ups we didnt see the diecast location or how much diecast in it, after all it comes from a company that have only 1 legit diecast (carbotix) figure which is Astroganger the rest have little to no diecast, for me its not a priority give me a high quality figure with decent articulation and i will be happy but for $700 it should have alot of diecast

I'm one of those people who started this hobby from very beginning.
Back then, any new releases for these old school robots were rare and scarce,
so we had to be thankful for whatever they threw at us.
The quality of products were poor in general,
and our best and only hope was for Bandai to do SOC.
Even then, it was not always in our best likings.
Overall, we were just getting lesser for more,
especially when compared to more popular guys like Gundam.
I was always envy of Gundam fans..
But not anymore.
Now we got Sentinel, Pose plus, CCS Toys, 5Pro, and many others,
there's just no need to desperately wait for Bandai anymore.
So these days, I take pity on Gundam people,
because it's now them that are getting lesser for more LOL.
This hobby is really getting better and more exciting than ever =)

I really wish everyone else feels the same as you do, so I can find this at a sale bin. But we all know that won't happen LOL. yes that wont happen since its Voltron we are talking about, not Gordian i did a poll in my Instagram, and %55 said they will pass for many reasons, but the most common reasons were, happy with the SOC or the its overpriced
now its not a world wide survey its just my circle of people a % of the over all market

For me, whether they fix the joints or not, I've already lost interest in this reissue, as the big boy is around the horizon.
This will likely be my last post in this thread..

No, it is not. So is comparing this to a vintage Golion in pretty decent condition. I'm not. Of course a vintage Godaikin or whatever versus this iteration is not the same. BUT...for the asking price, I was pointing out that it'd give me pause to consider getting the 1980s toy. Not saying getting the vintage version is right for everyone either but for me, if I could get something like that as an equivalent, I'd say most of the time, I'd pick something made in the 80s. Call me a grumpy old man maybe. I do too collect vintage gokins, and got my vintage Golion in pretty decent condition for what $100? 20 years ago LOL. Those who came late would have to pay extra, and that's the common practice in this hobby. So, just as you'd get vintage Golion for the same money, I'd too get $700 for Blitzway Voltron instead of $500 for the SOC that is the going price these days. (to tell you the truth, I wouldn't even pay $300 because it is just not up to my standards lol)

That's good point, and it is actually the case with the SOC Voltes. However, it still tells what it is worth in the market place. People are winning about the price, but market thinks differently, because when it comes to a Gokin toy like this, it's not just the size or weight that determines its fair value.

I'd be surprised if it doesn't, as you can see tracks on the limbs

$700 for the left, and $500 for the right Which one would you buy? It's as simple as that. $700 is crazy expensive, but so are $500. This is not some kind of basic commodity, if someone can afford $500 for a robot toy, they can too with $700. And, in the gokin scene, people tend to keep only the best version of each robots, so only what's considered the best rendition of character at the time will sell for a jacked up price. Because that's what everyone wants. See how Sentinel Mazinkaiser sells for a ridiculous price, while SOC is still at its original MRRP? And it will only last until a better version is available. For example, GX-50 Combattler V used to sell for $500 at eBay before the arrival of DX version, the most recent sales at eBay marked around $200.

I do too think some areas do look strikingly similar, especially the head sculpt and mid chest area like the location of 4 golden diamonds. Proportion wise, it's got much larger upper body, and longer legs bigger feet. Overall, it looks like beefed up version of SOC.

I'd gladly pay $500 for this over $200 SOC anyday, but I'm expecting somewhere around $300 range
