I've been wanting the japanese Black DX version for a while now but since I'm a bit strapped for cash I am trying to decide if I should just go look for the much cheaper NinjaStorm US toys at TRU or KB. I was just wondering how much of a difference do the cheaper US versions have. I'm curious about the overall quality, diecast (the US have none?), plastic, paint app, and did the gimmicks pretty much stay in tact for the US vers?
I still want the Japanese version Black DX version but I'm worried that they are getting harder to find, and been seeing jacked up prices...the high shipping cost for that huge box is a pain in the wallet too. I'm really kicking myself for not buying a long time ago.
Anyone know of good on-line places for the japanese black version?... especially around the continental US? Anyone selling theirs for a decent price?
Thanks Much..

The US hurricanger pieces are far inferior to the japanese versions. There is a significant weight difference (jap diecast) and the japanese versions have more detailed paint jobs... Plus the jap boxes are so much cooler. ;D
As for a good source on the black set, I don't think I've seen anyone beat bigbadtoystore's price of $100 + $5 shipping. Too bad they're sold out. However, if you're a real hurricanger fan.. I'd recommend the Jumbo Hero Senpujin at bigbadtoystore. It's only about $50 and it's far superior in sculpt and paint job in comparison to the US Senpujin jumbo available at toys r us.
If you'd like comparison pics I've got the black set, US/Jap dx'es and US/Jap jumbos.

Keep checking eBay-- there's a guy in Singapore who occasionally lists them. That's how I got mine, and there's no comparison between the two versions, especially the black version-- Black Senpuujin and Gouraisenpuujin just look amazing. I posted my pictures here, check 'em out.

I just couldn't force myself into buying a US NINJAStorm toy so I went ahead and splurged on the JP black DX from Toy-wave..... paid about $100 + 70 shipping but he is well worth it (I got him in less than 3 days shipped from HK!). I love the substance that one gets from this toy; size, weight, durability, and a lot of fun factor. Articulation sucks but he has a lot of presence! I still can't stop looking at him. He goes perfect with my big gattai bots, Dancougar, Voltron, Combattler, and he also dominates all the other bots on my shelf (though Unicron is slightly bigger, Unicron looks like he's scared of him ;D). I can't wait to see what he'll look like next to the SOC Zambot that I'm planning on getting. Hopefully there will be a gucci Zambot cos they look like they're brothers. LOL. BTW, I'm not a sentai fan but I could definitely get into the other DX sentai bots that are just as fun as Gourai-Senpujin. Any suggestions?

Well, I'd definitely recommend buying a Samurai Star Megazord so you can combine that with the other two to make Tenraisenpuujin. They're not hard to find at all on eBay, they're *very* close to the Japanese DX Tenkuujin, and they come with the components for the triple gattai. The main differences, as far as I can tell, is that the plastic is a bit more sparkly and the main connector is painted silver on the Japanese version. That, and the numbers on the US Karakuri balls are kind of lame, but that's not such a big deal for me.
As a matter of fact, the K-B near me still has two Samurai Stars left on clearance. If you want me to pick one up and do a custom black repaint like I did on mine, send me a private message and we can work something out. All-black Tenraisenpuujin looks HOT, but even with the green Tenkuujin/Samurai Star, Tenraisenpuujin is one of my favorite gattai ever.
