Hi,
I finally gave in and bought a Goraijin/Sempujin after seeing the beautiful pics on ToyBoxDX. I'm predominantly a SOC / Zoids / old school Chogokin man but after doing some research on the Ranger series toys, I'm impressed.
Sooo, I have a few questions before I just start randomly bidding/buying these things:
1. I am a diecast junkie and was wondering which of the toys have that solid, hefty feel that other DX robots have.
2. Are the US Power Ranger toys the same as the Japanese for the most part? If not, is there a place that lists major differences? I know that the AbaRanger toys are pretty much the same as the US versions save a few paint differences. How about the older series?
3. What are the ones I should look for from the older series (I've found ones from pretty much series that I like) that are steadily appreciating so I an go ahead and nab them before they get too high or scarce.
Thanks in advance!

1.Hi. regarding your inquiry, if you want heavy die-cast, the vintage ones from Battle Fever to Jetman are the ones with heavy die-cast. If you are focussing on the newer lines, aside from Hurricanegers Gaorangers give the best die-cast quality.
2.Now, regarding quality, from observation, the mechs from Power Rangers Zeo/Oh Rangers, Time Rangers/Timeforce, Megaranger/ PR: Space, and Gogo V/PR Rescue have similar die-cast content and quality. The Wildforce mechs and the Gaorangers mechs differ a lot in die-cast especially with the arm components(Gao shark, wolf, etc.)
3. If you wanna get vintage toys, go for the first three Sentai bots mainly for their significance in Sentai history. Battle Fever is the first Sentai Robot, Daidenzin is the first transforming robot and Sun vulcan is the first combiner.Other rare pieces from the vintage line you should snatch if you get the chance are the Biorobo, Flashking, Greatfive Robo and Liverobo. The Godaikins (Goggle V, Dynaman, etc) are easier to get so no need to hurry with those.
4. I also recomend getting the Megarangers mechs. They sure give value for your money and are one of the best contemporary Sentai bots ever made
Hope this helps dude.

Thanks for the insights gaoJP! A few more questions if you don't mind: 1. I checked Robot-Japan's section on PR/Sentai stuff and there are quite a few pieces that I want to get from the older series. However, if there are quality differences between Japanese/US versions, I'd like to get the one that is better of course. Is there a place that lists the differences between the US and Japanese releases? I read in another postof yours that the Gao animals released in the US are the same as the HK versions and the Japanese ones are the one with the diecast content? Is this correct? 2. I like the King Brachion carrier design a lot. How big is it and is it basically the same thing as the white carrier thing that was released here? 3. Is there an average price guide to what I should be expecting to pay for these toys somewhere? I've no clue how much these should be going for and I don't want to get ripped. Thanks again for your help! j*ryu 1.Hi. regarding your inquiry, if you want heavy die-cast, the vintage ones from Battle Fever to Jetman are the ones with heavy die-cast. Your welcome. 1. Regarding the Gao Animals, I typed wrong. The US version released in the US with the Wildforce packaging has lesser die-cast content than the Japanese version. The HK reissued Gao Animals are the one with similar die-cast content with the Japanese ones. 2. King Brachion is a very impressive toy. There is little difference with him and its US version Titanus. The toy is at least 12 inches long. If you really want a good carrier, I suggest getting the Revolver Mammoth. 3. Sad to say I am not aware of any site which has comparatives with US and Jap Sentai bots. Maybe other members can help out on this one. 4. Regarding price range, can you be more specific on what series you need price ranges for so ic an help you out? Thanks.

Rock on, thanks for the replies. See below - Ah, I see. Another question regarding the Gao animals - I've seen them sold separately as well as part of the gattai sets. Is this just so that you can have extras to swap out arms/legs etc or do they also come with extra weapons, etc. How many extra sets are there? I count ..6 (standard color that is)? Is King Brachion along the same scale as the big tortoise and Revolver Mammoth? No prob, thanks anyways. I'm sure I'll run across the info sooner or later. Well, my wants list is pretty big considering I'm just starting out. I think I'll try to get the Gao Series first which means: - GaoGod
- GaoIcarus (I heard the HK version is diff. than US & Jpn?)
- Gao King
- Gao Muscle
- Gao Knight
- The six sets of animals
I'd also like to get : Also, any good online stores that have a wide variety of the old stuff or should I just ask my Japanese contact to try and find them in stores or on YJ? Thanks again for your help! j*ryu

1.Hi. The individual Gao animals don't have any difference or additional weapons compared to the boxed set with the exception of one gao animal, Gao Falcon. The Gao Falcon that comes with the boxed Gao Icarus set has sounds while the individualy boxed Gao Icarus doesn't. 2. King Brachion is almost at scale with Tor/Daimugen the sh*ttlezord (big tortoise) but revolver Mammoth is bigger. 3. In my country, Gaorangers boxed sets range from $40-80 dollars depending on the mech. Individual Gao Animals are cheaper at around $20. The Dekabase is heft at $100 plus dollars while Dekarobo goes for around $50-60. Oh and there is little to no difference with the Jap and HK version of Gao Icarus.

I see, cool. I think I'm going to start with a few animals first. I did see that Toy Wave has a silver set?
Awesome, thanks for the clarification. I have a Mammoth on the way now. Still looking for King Brachion.
Ok, thanks for the price ranges. They seem to be in line with what my contacts are asking. Anything I should have them look for because it's getting harder to find of the old series? Also, what is the deal with the robot that forms a head and has to be opened with a key. That one looks kinda interesting (read : odd)
thanks!

Thanks for the heads up on that. What would be your suggestions as to the ones I should look for if I am a big fan of old Bandai DX series? Thanks! j*ryu The mech with the key is Auric the conqurerorzord or Gunmazin from Oh Rangers. I got one the other day and tryst me, its not worth the money.
