I have it and recommend it if you're into the big "carrier" type ships/sets. To answer your questions:
1. It's the Revolver Mammoth DX from the Hurricanger series by Bandai Japan.
2. It takes 2 "C" batteries.
3. The price varies, last one on eBay sold by MachineSoldier went for around $150. I think you may still be able to get it new..check Toy Wave.
4. I've never watched Hurricanger but I would think it would show up in the show.
Some other misc. details-
The toy itself is HUGE, the core mass a bit bigger than a regulation sized basketball. It's sturdily made and designed to carry the Hurricanger robos into battle on it's back. There is a platform built into it's back where they can stand. It also has a built-in gimmick where this crank/gear device on the RM interacts and makes the spinning features (lion chest, gatling dolphin) on GouraiSenpujin work while the RM is on.
When turned on, the RM will only move when you press the button on top of his body. After pressing, he will slowly trundle across the floor. There is a lever that will open up the hatch on his head and a button on the side of the lever where you can shoot the Karakuri balls out with a suprising quickness.
I have to say that I quite like the old Mammoth. Coupled along with one of the robos it's just a very impressive piece.
I think StealthLurker has some pics of all of the Hurricanger gang up somewhere.

Hey Thanks.
Very useful info. Might buy it... dudes selling it for equivalent of $63 but, the box is a bit mashed up.
I like big stuff, eye candy or retro stories/characters. This seems to qualify as big stuff.

Thats a good price for Revolver Mammoth. Its actually a very good buy. I'm quite happy with mine. My only complaint are the ugly transparent Karakuri balls it comes with but other than that its a great toy. ;D

Be careful which one you get. There is a DX version that comes in a box about 3 feet long. Then there is a ST version that is about half the size. I have the DX. I paid $99.00 from Toys-N-Joys when it first came out. It's still in the shipping box because...well...I don't have room to display it. It's huge. If the DX costs $63.00, jump on it. Forget the box.
