i have seen 2 episodes, and am currently watching one right now, of the american SPD, and it is unrelated to the previous PR series...right?
the toys, so far, suck in my opinion. the robot looks bulky. i LOVED the DinoThunder zords and etc. almost everything about them. and i can't wait for Magirangers to come to the usa TVs. the toys look INCREDIBLE! hmmm, Dinorangers, GREAT, SPD, bad, Magiranger GREAT, ...is it an UP-DOWN pattern? do i have anything to look forward to in the SPD toy line?
is SPD related to the Dinothunder universe? i only JUST got interested in Power Rangers thanx to TV-Nihon with Sentai torrents and such...amazing difference between the PR and Sentai.

Well if there is an Abaranger vs. Dekaranger movie in Japan, well sure enough you'll see a DinoThunder/SPD crossover here in the states.

I wish I could remember where I read it, but apparently Bandai USA is only putting out the Delta Squad Megazord and whatever they're calling the US release of the Dekabike Robo. So the one toy in the Deka lineup that I really liked, the Dekawing Robo, isn't going to get released over here. Alas. Although I have to say I wasn't really that fond of the Aba/DT stuff either; the gattais never really did anything for me. Magi's bots do truly rock the heezy, though. You can read up on the past sentai and PR series at www.supersentai.com and www.rangercentral.com. I've seen quite a few of the sentai series, not so much PR stuff. As far as PR goes, the acting/writing was pretty horrendous before the transition to Disney, though the earliest stuff was the worst in that regards. So far, I've seen bits of Megaranger and Zyuranger, most of Dairanger and Carranger, and all of Time, Gao, Hurri, Aba, and Deka. I've got bots from Zyu, Mega, Gogo V, Gao, Hurri, and Time. No pattern as far as I can see, but your mileage may vary.

gattais? wow, your vocabulary is way up there, to the point i cannot understand it...yet. i am new to the Sentai world (about 2 months into it, thanx to a faster speed online connection, i can watch the shows that are not shown in the usa). and i will master the language(terminology) eventually. now i know how ppl feel when i am talking about Transformers, and they have very little exposure, and are just blown-away by my usuage of jargon. i think i understand the rest, the names of the shows, i am still learning both the american names and the japannese names. Wild Force PR was the first PR series that i ever considered watching, but since it was an ongoing series, i felt a little lost while watching it , so i would rarely watch it, and have it on on Saturday mornings, and perk-up during the fight scenes. I liked the Wild Force bots, and then the Abaranges/Dinothunders...WOW!!! i was so tempted to get the Megazord for them when he came out, but i couldn't get past the ARMs...i HATE non-humanized handlessness, that is why alot of nice looking Transformers don't make it to my collection (like Shockblast, if he onlly didn't have that HUGE gun arm, i would like him), but then a week ago, i got Dinothunder MZ on clearance at K-Mart for $26, and found-out that he DOES have human hands under the shield and drill!!! why didn't they show this feature AT ALL on ANY THING (the box, or other's catalogues) ? i love the Dinothunders, i like the scheme, the gilded continuity. i have bought certain PR megazords over the years, but never watched the show, since my first exposure was MMPR which i thot was just too silly(especially for someone my age). but i like the Blue all space ships (i think lightspeed rescue) and the LSRescue zord, i got him, because he looked very Shogun Warriorish. i visit TV-Nihon for my Sentai FIX, where do u go to watch it?

FYI - looks like the delta wing will probably be released in the states after all.
ALSO - sentai series in the US and JP are now co-produced. Shot on the same sets, with different actors at the same time in new zealand. So the suckiness you get is just really the writing staff at Disney, who now owns the power rangers brand in the states.

I'm still VERY new to Sentai/PR too. Through the years I've bought many of the Megazord toys, but I've only seen 3 or 4 episodes of any series ever, 2 of which were SPD within the past few weeks. I have this feeling like I want to like the shows, but everytime I try watching it, I end up really unimpressed (understatement) with the acting, and the villains often look unbearably ridiculous. Regarding the amazing difference between PR and Sentai, which is the clear winner? Is the acting and storytelling better in the Sentai series?

I'm still VERY new to Sentai/PR too. Through the years I've bought many of the Megazord toys, but I've only seen 3 or 4 episodes of any series ever, 2 of which were SPD within the past few weeks. I have this feeling like I want to like the shows, but everytime I try watching it, I end up really unimpressed (understatement) with the acting, and the villains often look unbearably ridiculous. Regarding the amazing difference between PR and Sentai, which is the clear winner? Is the acting and storytelling better in the Sentai series? In a word, yes. Sentai can be pretty uneven, and it's still targeted at kids, but when the shows are good, they're really really good. The villain outfits do require a pretty serious suspension of disbelief, but on the other hand, the fight scenes are fun, and I'm a sucker for giant robo fights. I'd recommend checking out Hurricanger, which was my first sentai, and is available pretty easily over eBay. There are also fansubs of Dekaranger available at TV-Nihon. They do a really good job, and while Deka isn't my favorite sentai by a long shot (in fact, the leads are as hammy as anyone in Power Rangers), it is a lot of fun. My quickie reviews of the ones I've seen some or all of: Liveman (partial): Very cool, shockingly violent for what is ostensibly a kid's show. First dozen eps available for torrenting at anarion.cjb.net. Zyuranger (partial): more "kiddy" oriented, but still much better than its US counterpart. Dairanger (most): Dairanger is half drug trip, half kung fu, but all awesome. Okay, except for Kibaranger, who manages to be annoying as f**k for his initial story arc. The fighting in this one is particularly good. Got mine on eBay. Carranger (most): I would highly recommend seeing this, but only *after* you've seen a couple of other sentai, because Carranger is self-parody all the way. It makes fun of all the traditional elements of sentai, and has left me laughing out loud several times. Again, eBay. Megaranger (partial): Videogame rangers. Fun, cool, available on eBay (though check out TV-N for episode 1 to see if you might be interested).. Timeranger (all): EHHHHXCELLENT. Great action, fairly serious tone, highly recommended. eBay (again, TV-N did ep 1 a while back). Gaoranger (all): Fun if you're in it for the mecha battles, which I totally was. Decent story-- the Gaorangers were *incredibly* powerful, and almost always outclassed by their enemies the Org. But very heavy on the toy promotion and certainly more kid-oriented than, say, Timeranger. eBay. Hurricanger (all): My first sentai series, and one of my favorites. There's a *great* story arc, some great characters, and while the acting isn't always great, the action is lots of fun. eBay. Abaranger (all): wildly inconsistent. The first half or so was almost unwatchable for me-- *very* kiddie-oriented, bad acting, really kind of dumb. But I was downloading it for free and watching it together with a friend of mine, so I kept going. (Well, I skipped ahead a couple of times.) And somewhere around two-thirds in, I realized I was hooked, because the storyline had actually gelled into something really good, something I cared about. eBay (the free download site's no longer available, alas). Dekaranger (all): In a word, cool. There was never much of a story arc, the acting wasn't very good, but *damn* if I didn't like this show anyway. Dekamaster is one of my favorite sentai characters ever, the 'bot stuff was awesome... and you can download the first 30 or so eps from TV-N. Magiranger (everything so far): I was skeptical at first-- acting's nearly down to Power Ranger (like, Saban's Power Rangers) levels, and they keep doing things that make me wonder what drugs they're on, but there are definitely cool elements to it. And again, available for download-- TV-N has subs, and anarion has raws. --- Actually, if you're interested in live-action stuff but you're worried that sentai's going to be a bit too kid-oriented for your taste, check out Kamen Rider. Faiz and Blade are both available through TV-N, and they've got really good characters, *excellent* storylines, and decent acting. Gransazer and Justiriser are Konami productions, and while they're uneven, they're pretty good overall and have Giant Robo Action as well. Why yes, I *am* a tokusatsu fan... how'd you know? ;D

Wow! Thanks for breaking it down Ayak!
Regarding Bit-Torrents, is it illegal to download these episodes, as it is with music and movies?

Strictly speaking, it probably is. However, as the material has never been and will likely never be released in the US in non-americanized form, I can't really see anyone going after sentai fansubbers and the people who are downloading their work. Toei just doesn't bother licensing the series overseas, so it's not really taking away from their potential market.
