Hey guys/Gamera experts, What's the "avan" gamera and what role did it play as oppose to just the regular gamera. I'm trying to decide which one to get and am leaning towards the more fierce looking avan version as opposed to the "happy" looking regular gamera Thanks in advance

Thanks LurkerX, I'd never heard of "avan" Gamera before. As far as I understood the Showa era was the "happy" looking version and the Heisei era was the fierce looking one.
Sounds like they used both styles in the new movie.

I'm with Gort. I always thought of it in terms of production companies.
A great resource for this type of stuff is Toho Kingdom (http://www.tohokingdom.com/). My kids love looking through the monster bios.

My kids love looking through the monster bios. Thanks for that link KingboyD just visited it and had a blast Its interesting to note that the largest godzilla was 100meters from the 90's and the one from the 80's was the 2nd @ 80m while the ones from the 00's were 50 -55m back to the height of the original 1954 godzilla That totally explains a lot, when trying to figure out why in some movies godzilla towers over skyscrapers and on others he's just as tall as or shorter than buildings now I understand why my godzilla from the biollante movie is rightfully 20" @ 1/160 Thanks again ;D ;D
