Hi, just stumbled on the board.
I'm the director of a childcare program and I have been collecting toys for 5 years now, but, I have been a college student for a while so jumbos have been out of my league outside the American figures. Recently, I have just started to make some dough and I am looking to increase my collection with some rarer peices. Right now I have a 1st Mazinga complete with box, a complete Gaiking, complete Godzilla, mint Rodan, Raydeen complete with box and XX-2 acc. I also have a 26" remote controlled Voltron that I throw in with these guys.
I have a few questions though. My Gaiking and Raydeen are my oldest figures, and the chest firing mechanisms don't seem to work. I have an extra Gaiking and Raydeen, does anyone have experience with fixing these kind of things?
Also, I am looking to get some cheaper non-imported figures (Poseidon, esp!). In my case getting these rare figures with all their stickers and acc. is not important. Even some breaks are ok. Have you guys found that it is possible to find affordable peices around or under $200? Usually when I see Japanese Jumbos for sale they are mint versions, do people just not bother selling lesser examples of these on the American market?
Also, is there a good source for getting prices on Jumbos? The mainstream toy mags do not cover them for obvious reasons.
Thanks! Joe

Welcome to the board, Joe! Jumbos really aren't my area of expertise, but I'm sure some of the knowledgable folk here will be able to help you out

Hi Joe. Glad to see you here on the BBS! Tom Frank or our JMachinder is the biggest expert here. He may be able to assist later. But for now I would say YES, you can afford loose jumbos via e-bay for less than $200. It is though VERY tough to come accross the rare models for much less than $400 (even LOOSE ). But alas, we have auctions to browse and you may stumble onto a good deal. I also suggest Rinkya auction service and yahoo japan. It all just takes time. As for prices, I suggest that you concentrate on certian toys and just ask here. Many members can assist. Then check the "completed auctions" sections of e-bay. Regards, Ed
