Can someone assist me with the background behind the JR. (Mazinga side-kick) robot toy by Popy? I heard they were unpopular, is that true?
Then how rare/ pricey is it? Thanks.

The following background info is from ToyBoxDx.com and the info is as follows:
Robot Junior was a secondary character from later episodes of Great Mazinger, and the chogokin portrayal has become quite difficult to find. (Near-universal loathing for the design seems to have kept the production run to a minimum.) The bats can be removed from the back, and a missile can be fired from the elbow of each arm. Popy originally planned to produce a "popinika" of the baseball-cap-shaped spacecraft that forms the cockpit of the robot, but it never saw actual production.
Popy GA-06 is super RARE in Japan too. I only see it once or twice at Yahoo Japan auctions.

Might be worth for them to do a reissue.

Robot Jr. is by no means RARE. I have seen at least 10 on YahooJP this year alone. I think Forrest Gangu has like 4 of them for sale. Ed, I wouldn't pay more than $500 for one in box. Just my 2 cents.
"Might be worth for them to do a reissue. "
Hardly. Although a "THE Chogokin" wouldn't be out of the question. Is that line still going, or is it dead? Anybody know?
