i did somecutsom colors on a jumbo gaiking. this is my first time and i did all the things your not supposed to do when painting a jumbo. it is not finish yet, but i do want to know what else i can avoid next time. this are the things... 1 not sanded( i only had a 600 grit sand paper at the time ) 2 didnt took out the old decals 3 didnt clean it up much 4 used enamel... Plasti-kote brand(not sure about this if its ok to use on jumbo) ** the left side of his nose was a litle bit sanded(600grit) but the enamel didnt stick to much the plastic, but not as much as the other parts... i will be using 1200 grit next time, hope the paint will stick to that even when you rub that part. this is as far as i know that should be avoided, can you please tell mo more. this is my learning process, and as i say.... experience is the best way to learn. any help would be great guys. thanks and here are the pics

Not bad for a first custom, the color scheme looks cool. You basically described what steps you should follow next time. The plasti-kote paint isn't bad paint it's actually quite durable. You should make shure it is fully sanded and washed with dishwashing soap before you paint. Spraying would be preferable. I use their automotive primer to primer my projects, it's cheaper than buying cans of Testors. Nice customzing Mechaboy1

thanks mechaboy1, i will surely do spraying on the next project, or maybe dip it in plasti-dip ^_^
i will try to experiment first, if i dont get comfy with plasti-dip, i will use krylon spray cans with it.

Hey Mannix, if you ever get around to making your own custom Doublas-M2 someday, you'll need two of These for the double necks: I plan to use this vacuum hose to make the flexible joint seams in my Grt Mazinger jumbo! ;D zozo-Magengar

I think building a backpack with wings on the back would look pretty cool like in the smaller model, you could probably use sheet styrene or old large scale model airplane parts.

Hey Mannix, If you want the wings on his back to have the proper shape just take this picture and place it on a power point slide and make a template from that out of paper first. Once you get the correct size for the larger Gaiking then you will be ready to make an awesome replica of the smaller versions wings. That is what I did to make mine. The wing that I made is flat and I attached it with Velcro. Here is the pic that you need to do the job. Hope this helps.

Power point is a part of the Microsoft Office .suite of software. It allows you to make presentations i.e slide shows that can be shown on a computer. If you don't have Power point on your computer then you can use any other type of photo managing/editing program that will allow you to manipulate/enlarge and image.

Great start!
Here's what I would change: 1) paint the legs and 2) fill in the skull around the jaw (where stickers were) with gold.
