Hmmm. I know when Takara decided to cheapen their Diaclone toys for American release, many of Diattacker's chrome parts were replaced with yellow plastic. Perhaps this is a similar tactic used on a later reincarnation of the toy.

I am not an expert but what I do remember is that the yellow joint Voltes V represents the first batch of production. I do not know though why they were later replaced with red ones.
just my two cents

I've always thought of that joint to be red. I had one when I was a kid, and it was red. The yellow one looks funny...

I don't think they came from the Combattra because if you look the Combattra joints are smaller and slimer.

Thanks Mikey that helps in the debate.
My guess is that there was extra raw yellow Combattra plastic left over from the older production.

i've seen yellow jointed Voltes Vs in blue boxed Volt bombers. They are NRFB from Yahoo Japan. So its more of some leftovers repackaged into newer boxes. I've also seen gold shoulder Dangard Aces on 2nd edition boxes. Im sure more ppl prefer the red because of what they remember or see in the box art. The first thing I knew about the yellow jointed Voltes was that it came from the first green boxes, but lately here in Italy has started the rumor that these joints belongs to Combattra's...maybe some remainder... This is what I know about it...
