Hey guys,
I recently acquired a Getta Poseidon and Jumbo Great Mazinga from ebay auctions, and am trying to determine which series they came from. My first guess would have been they were both the Shogun Warrior versions (both came from American sellers) but they're copyrights are in Japanese, without any Mattel markings on them. Did Shogun Warriors have an American trademark or did they simply keep the Japanese ones?
Also, I'm a bit confused about Jumbo Machinder. It WAS an entirely seperate Popy toy line, wasn't it? I can find very little about it online. Every time I look for Great Mazinga, for example, the Shogun Warriors version is the only one that comes up. Help would be appreciated!

I don't think any of the Shogun 5" die-casts and 2-in1 die-casts have any Mattel markings on them (at least the ones I have don't).

Thanks! I just want to know what I have so that I can list it on my webpage properly. I'm not the kind to advertise an original when I actually have a later release.

The Shogun Warriors started off as new old Japanese stock and remained Popy toys. Mattel only packaged the diecast robots as far as I know and never put a logo stamping. Now as far as robot incarnations go, usually features were cheapened as time went by. For example Mazinga had red stickers on the knees in the first versions. Later they were removed to save money. Poseidon had folding legs in the first version and then that feature was deleated in the second and third releases. Dragun had 2 sets of firing fists in the first incarnation. Now what exactly is your Jumbo question? Most of the Shogun releases were indeed cheapened Japanese releases. Numerous toys were only released in Japan. And I think there was only one, maybe two American only releases. There was a ghastly Rhodan release that was U.S. only. And a small bit of me thinks our molding of Godzilla was unique to the US. Curiouser and Curioser...
My Poseidon does have the folding legs, first off. Also, I've seen the package for the Shogun Warriors Great Mazinga, and it was produced by Mattel.
By the way, can anyone direct me to a site that has either a list of all the original Jumbo Machnders (not the Shogun Warriors releases) or the original Jumbo Machinder logo?
