Okay, so back in 1993, I was complaining about how modern toys didn't compare to Star Wars, and why wouldn't Kenner just rerelease the original toys (they still had the molds)? In 1995, they designed better figures, but rereleased the original vehicles.
In 2000, I was complaining about how modern toys didn't compare to G1 Transformers, and why wouldn't Hasbro just rerelease the original toys (they still had the molds)? In 2001, Takara did it, and Hasbro soon followed.
So now, when are we going to see reissues of the original Chogokin items. I know SOC is redoing many of them better (and that's awesome), but how hard would it be for them to remake the originals. I'm assuming there's probably a market for them in Japan. Certainly Bandai America would do well to bring back Go Lion, Dairgugger XV, and Arbegas, especially since Trendmasters is out and no one owns "Voltron" anymore.
Edit: Man, that auto editor cracks me up. I originally wrote "Back in 1993, I was B----ing about..." and it replaced that with "Back in 1993, I was pregnant dog about...". It took me a moment to realise what had happened ;D

Redoing the origional toys could not be done with old molds. At least from what I heard, the molds would be worn out by now and need expensive retooling.
That would lead to option #2, tearing up an original toy and re-mastering it. Again, the price would be expensive, but return may be o.k.
I happen to think Bandai executives don't want to re-issue too much. They favor "Soul of Series." If they re-release toys it undermines their "collector series" toy values.

Wow. Time to bump this topic back up the list. Looks like someone was listening, once again So do you guys suppose that if the smaller Gokin reissues do well, Bandai might consider reissuing the later DXs? I'd hope they wouldn't go with a 3/4 scale again though...

It's believed that those wee chogokin gashapon figs were a test bed for THE Chogokin. If that is the case, we may end up seeing combiners along the lines of the old DX figures, since both Combattra and Voltes were done in the gashapon series. This would be cool, since paying something along the lines of 2500-3000Y is preferable to shelling out $200-400 on the vintage versions.

I wouldn't mind getting DX reissues, especially of the Bio Robot DX. It's the only bot IMO that looks proportioned, maybe a Daimos and Danguard Ace DX too.

I am really getting excited over the prospect of getting a Voltes V DX reissue. Man It should at least stand at 7 inches... not bad at all for me!!! ;D
