What does "popy" refer to? Is it a manufacturer? A type of collectible toy? Packaging? To read the uses of the term, I've gleamed off all of these as possible deffinitions.
Help would be appreciated! ;D

While Popy was a manufacturer, the name is used just as incorrectly on ebay as Diaclone is. People think any pre-Transformer is a "Diaclone" and that any Japanese robot that they've never seen before is a "Popy".

Popy is the company name that produced diecast robots in the 70's. You will see the 3 kanji stamped on foots of old shogun warriors toys and, well, Popy toys. This may help too: www.robot-japan.com/Popy%20Home.htm-Ed

Popy produced into the '80s too. They were reabsorbed into Bandai in '83, I believe. Every GoDaiKin toy was originally designed and sold by Popy in Japan. Popy also made Chogokin, Popinika, and Mini-Mini, amongst others.
